SWM needs to happen, and there is currently no tournament scheduled for May, so I've decided to organize one. I live in Ontario, so I'll call it the
Ontario Regional.
Creative name, eh?ALL ARE WELCOME, regardless of geography!!!
However, if you want to be taken seriously and actually stand a chance at victory, then you'll need to use a proper Canadian accent in your registration. Not just "I'm in," but rather, "I'm in, eh?"Please indicate (with a proper Canadian accent, eh?) in this thread if you plan on playing.
Additional request - Have a Discord account! It is FREE! It is super handy! We can all chat in the main room between games. You can check out other people's games if you finish early (and hear them talk!) This is not required, but it is strongly encouraged!
Squads and map selections can be PMed to thereisnotry anytime after Wednesday, May 25 (I will PM a neutral party my squad before then and post in this thread when I have done so). Please send squad link, copy/paste of squad, map, and DISCORD NAME (with the # and 4 digits) {Discord name and # only necessary if you are not already a part of the SWM Discord group. We only need that info 1 time}
*Registration ENDS May 28 at 11:00 am US CENTRAL (noon Eastern)
*Round 1 begins promptly at noon US CENTRAL (1:00 p.m. Eastern)
{Please gather in Vassal and Discord by 10 minutes before the start time}
Gameplay in each round will last exactly 75 minutes. Each player is responsible for timing their own games. Players are expected to set up and be ready to start at a reasonably fast pace to keep the tournament moving.
Number of Swiss rounds depend on number of participants.
8 or fewer = 3 rounds, cut to top 2 (or just straight 4 rounds of Swiss, decided based on numbers)...or see below
9-16 = 4 rounds, cut to top 4
17-32 = 5 rounds (very optimistic here), cut to top 6; 1-2 have byes 3vs6 and 4vs5; lowest seed vs 1, highest seed vs 2
** If our numbers are low, we may simply elect to do a Round Robin, and perhaps with a Finals match. We'll talk about it as a group (with me as T.O. making the final decision) if this is the case.
