Holy smokes batman, an in person event. I will do my best to be there. My family had talked about going to St. Louis earlier that week so I may have the time off of work and as long as I get back from Missouri in time which I should then hopefully I will be able to attend.

Alas, it's an 8.5 hour drive for me, but I'd love to be there. The last time I played minis in-person was before the Dark Times...before the pandemic.

I'm going to see if I can magically convince my wife to go so that I can come, but it seems highly unlikely. I really would love to do something in person again.

All this talk of an in-person SWM tournament stirs up in me memories that have long lain dormant. I remember the thrill and atmosphere of gathering with 30+, even 60+ minis players all together. I remember GenCon days with 12+ hours of SWM, and the fun and laughter with people between games. And Wednesday evening before GenCon...oh man, those were the days! If there was a way for me to be part of this event then I'd love to be there. Oh well, Vassal will have to do....

The last time I played minis in-person was before the Dark Times...before the pandemic. oh dang; I even played "During" the pandemic, in a PETMAN style Hazmat suit and at impromptu locales, we had a bubble tent, a roll-up blind sign, and some posters etc. Exhibition Matches had to go on. We cleaned the proxy-pieces (ceramic made by Conchliocco) in a bath, it was great to talk about how some trace contaminants on recycled plastics can never be recycled because the plastic is never heated beyond what the contaminant can crystallize as etc... Good fun. That's why I am building a Devtac Darth Vader Helmet for a "Chess-Playing Turk" former PETMAN-7 Urban Combat Simulator target practice droid who will be a 1:1 Darth Vader for the express purpose of Exhibition Matches and or, Sparring at H.E.M.A. It all comes together; our VASSAL, SWMinisPlays, and TabletopBoardgameEmulator/ Simulator, etc... and, all those Wolfram "blinky lights" papers from the ElectronicJournalofCombinatorics that are the likely quelle source of SWMinis (or at least, a proximal gamestate mapper).

Yes, that is really me at locals and at SupaNova or GenCon Oz, with a Yellow or FleckTarn HAZMAT suit, with "I'm With Stupid" or other things on the suit... I wanted an A.S.T. Apron, like for my Physics Lab Kit, to wear over the top hehe. like the medicos used to have to put on their hazmat gear to reduce the issues with seeing full-face-covering spacesuits / HAZMAT suits.
"I'm playing checkers with a phluppin robot" no, I just happen to do a very close semblance to a PETMAN, well up to 9 series. And repair them, so you know, there's that. We have to be able to render "Robot First Aid" if they have Robot Sentient Rights / Human Rights, ergo, Right To Repair is non-negotiable etc. or, make the Maartens International Shipping Wiper-blade Legs for Conchliocco's "Claudia" (a Realbotix upper on different legs etc).
