Ok I don't know if this has been posted as of yet but I know there has been some confusion on the official date. Our LGS owner received a letter from WoTC to confirm the date so our release tourney is set accordingly. Here is his reply in email

Just so everyone knows, I received WOTC's weekly official email this evening which still lists the release date for Galaxy at War as 10/20

I asked Scott about this again last night. He then sent an e-mail to his contact at WotC, and forwarded the reply to me.

The contact confirmed the 20th as the release date. This apparently is the date that direct sales has been sending out to vendors for some time now.

It would seem the WotC web team has not updated the date on the web site.
Otherwise, there is a major communication breakdown somewhere...

Weird....I wonder where the 27th dates keep coming from then? Would be nice to know so we can plan our release events accordingly.

The 27th is posted on the WotC page for Galaxy at War here:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/galaxyatwarminis

I'm not aware where else on WotC it might "officially" be posted.

It was also on the "Official" release canlendar for all WOTC products. I posted the link somewhere on here.....

I was wrong, quoting myself from an earlier post here:

"20th of October is what I've heard. The RPG source book for GAW comes out on the 15th of Sept. according to the calendar here....

http://www.wizards.com/retailer/docs/2009_7-9_graphic.pdf "

I can't follow that link from work to check it out though.

I know awhile back in the WoTC forums there was a post on product release dates. GAW was listed there as the 20th. All the online store sites were listing the 20th. It wasn't until WoTC posted the 27th on their site that all the confusion started.

I know our release tourney is the 24th and we are being told that is the firm date. I'm guessing WoTC will not shoot anyone for selling the boosters a few days earlier.

Yes, that is correct. That calendar shows 9/15 for the RPG book. There is no release calendar for October-December posted there yet.

Yea, I was holding out to get as close as I could to release date so I could get them as close as possible to ship date, I was going by the 27th though, not the 20th.

So far, I've only ordered cases from Miniature Market, but I have ordered as late as 12:30 am on the Monday before release and still had them on Tuesday. However, I live only 2 hours or so from St. Louis Wink

on the fourth GAW preview. it says:

Galaxy at War is the newest set of Star Wars Miniatures from Wizards of the Coast. Based on the exciting Clone Wars cartoon, this set will be available in stores on October 27th.

So does it come out the 20th or the 27th?

20th.

Follow the link in Del Muerte's post above - they changed the date from the 27th to the 20th on that page today.

They obviously weren't paying attention to what they were advertising, as our LGS owner has had the date as the 20th from the very start, and he has been going off of info the people in direct sales have been sending him, and he verified it last night.
(I saw the e-mail)
