Hello,
since I can't find any search option on this page I'll just ask my question straight ahead:
Some of my WOTC SWM are covered in a strange white coating. This is happening even to some minis, which are still in their original plastic bags. This happening mainly to Universe and Alliance & Empire Minis. I can get rid of it with some soap and a toothbrush.
Does anybody know anything about this. My son just discovered my collection and wants to play the game and I'm a little bit worried that this might be some toxic stuff.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Not Toxic, it’s just the vinyl plastic the minis are made out of degrading due to some defect in the manufacturing process. You’re correct that it mostly happens to Universe (I find only the Huge base pieces in my collection) and Alliance and Empire sets. You don’t even need soap to clean it off, just some warm water will do it. Don’t run the water too hot or it will make the minis really bendy and possibly easier to break accidentally.

Hi,
thanks for the fast reply.
I wasn't aware, that the minis are made of vinyl.
I'm not quite sure if stuff leaking out of vinyl isn't toxic, but since we won't use the minis as chewing gum it should be safe.

I suppose I can't promise its not toxic but yes, if you don't eat them you and your child will be fine.
