Nate (ndjarnag) and myself have a yearly tradition of playing some minis over the Thanksgiving break. It's one of the two times a year we catch up and play (Christmas being the next one).

Per usual, we steal someone's squad on here (this year it was billiv15). We just had the one night to get some games in so a 200 pt and 100 pt games were squeezed in with a random dice roll for squad.

First game up was the 200pt. Though we are not opposed to the vsets, we tend to stay more old school. So the one rule was no vsets in the creation.

First Game

ndjarnag

--The God Squad 3.0 GAW--
49 Luke Skywalker, Champion of the Force
38 Obi-Wan Kenobi
30 Chewbacca, Rebel Hero
25 Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor
14 General Rieekan
13 Chagrian Mercenary Commander
9 General Dodonna
4 Mon Calamari Tech Specialist
6 Mouse Droid x2
12 Ugnaught Demolitionist x4

(200pts. 14 activations)

jhc36

--EU Imperials--
40 Prince Xizor
37 Grand Admiral Thrawn
22 Imperial Governor Tarkin
18 Moff Nyna Calixte
34 Storm Commando x2
15 Stormtrooper Commander
13 Czerka Scientist
10 Jagged Fel
8 Mas Amedda
3 Ugnaught Demolitionist

(200pts. 11 activations)

We danced around into position with ndjarnag able to move his pieces where he needed them without me being able to attack. I made an early mistake and lost the Czerka to Han and then one of my Storm Commando's to Luke. That woke me out of my turkey stupor apparently. Both forces started to get tightly nestled with Chewie backing up Luke and Han and Old Man Obi moving around the corner to go after my lone Commando. At this point in the game it came down to double attacking commanders and Thrawn moving into position to nerf healing and Luke's force. Thrawn swap is always a pain in the ass and it took ndjarnag longer than he thought to finally get my last Commando. But not before I put down some serious hurt on Luke and Chewie. One of the few games where I've used Thrawn and Tarkin so aggressively to attack. I really didn't have much left. I put Xizor in the mix towards the end to finish off Luke with Pheromones. ndjarnag rolled poorly and wasn't able to force reroll since I had a nearby Thrawn lurking about. After two hours I was able to put ndjarnag out of his misery and end the game. Only losing Czerka, ugnaught, and the two Commando's.

Now on to the 100pt game. This one went fast as the two teams were not found late and little thought put into searching Bill's 100pt builds. njdjarnag was going to have a rough night as random roll for team got him this stunner.

Second Game

ndjarnag

--Lifting Durge 100--
51 Durge, Jedi Hunter
21 T1 Series Bulk Loader Droid
10 ASP-7
10 San Hill
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2

(98pts. 6 activations)

--Roll Enough and the Dice Won't Matter--
33 Captain Rex
28 Dash Rendar, Renegade Smuggler
23 Jarael
9 R2-D2, Astromech Droid
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2

(99pts. 6 activations)

Played on one of those new maps... had a Cantina on it? Those maps are gangbusters and well made.

This game was brutal just looking at it. I think we went three rounds...maybe four. ndjarnag was still reeling from the previous collapse and made a tactical mistake moving Durge and his T1 into position for a quick lift and attack on a poorly placed Rex (sloppy play on my part). Winning initiative I knew I had to do something before I lost Rex. Using Jarael I spent a force point to get her in to attack and (hopefully) activate the T1. Big gamble on my part... knew I had a 50/50 chance to put the game away with that. It was my night apparently. T1 got activated and Durge had to attack Jarael. Three evade save later and I wiped out Durge on my next turn.

The game maybe lasted 30 mins. So we ran it back to when I activated the T1 to see if there was anything he could have done differently. Come to find out there wasn't. He lasted just one other round of activations and he was out.

It was after midnight so we called it a night. One of the few times I've had a sweep on ndjarnag.

Come Christmas we'll catch up and play another game or two.
