Its a close race between NR and OR. The problem is NR is not a good competitive faction. I am a huge New Jedi Order fan though so they're right at the top. I lean towards OR mostly because of the KOTOR games. They are also perhaps the best faction in the game right now too because they have so many different options that not a lot of factions have.

Are we talking best = competitively viable? I'd say Sith are pretty up right now. My favorite faction is New Republic because that's my favorite era of Star Wars, post Battle of Endor. Rogue and Wraith Squadron, Thrawn, Dark Empire, New Jedi Order.

Very close between either OR and Sith. I say Sith because of Tulak right now. The CE disruption is really a big part of these two factions. OR now can affect even Vong with their ABM and other force powers. But the Sith are just super tanky and have CE disruption which just kills factions like Rebels, Seps, Republic and NR

Oops, I think I misunderstood the question at first. I clicked OR because I think they're the most powerful faction in SWM right now. Why I think they are tops? --Bastilla's ABM: boardwide disruptive with a damage boost --Faith in the Force: being able to use impactful force powers against anyone (even force immune enemies) means that they really don't have a lot of difficult counters anymore --Revan and Nomi/Thon: they have at least 2 very powerful Tier 1 squad bases right now, in addition to the various other squad types that have been around for a while (OR pilots with cannon shots, AoL and other sub-factions, etc)
As for favorite... --for all-time favorite gameplay I'd say Republic. I've always enjoyed playing jedi (Mace is a personal favorite), and for many years Republic was the best jedi faction. (I think OR is best jedi faction now, though.) --for all-time favorite story/narrative I'd say either Rebels (Episodes IV-VI) or NR (Thrawn trilogy) or OR (KOTOR, SWTOR). It's hard to choose because so much of it is so good! --for all-time interesting and rewarding tactics and capabilities in gameplay, I think I'd probably go with Mandos. For this it's all about Kelborn and the things you can do with creative and multi-layered tactics with pre-round movement.

I think Old Republic faction is most powerful currently but only slightly. Lots of options and counters and they are fun to play.
My favorite faction is Sith but they are kinda niche and definitely not the most powerful.

+1 -1 I don’t understand how this is enjoyable Because he says "This Party's Over!" And GMA Triple Attack, hoping for a Vaapad crit, keeps the excitement level high.

the ultimate decision: will you reroll the succeeded attack to try and crit??

SpudZ wrote:the ultimate decision: will you reroll the succeeded attack to try and crit?? If you roll 5x (using 2 fprr's if necessary), needing a 17-20 to crit, you have a 55% chance of rolling a crit. So it's barely on the side of "it's worthwhile to go for it!" But it's also a waste of fp if you throw him in there hoping for a crit and don't get it. I've won and lost games based on the timing of when I threw Mace in there going for the Vaapad devastation turn.

But the Sith are just super tanky and have CE disruption which just kills factions like Rebels, Seps, Republic and NR I feel that Gencon 2025 & VassalCon 2025 will have a majority OR, and Sith with the 2nd most. Jason/Laura's Mandos "Lo Triumpe!" ( probably misspelled ), will be in there as well. It would be nice to see another faction winning, but I don't see that happening * Edge to OR, as the top faction in SWM, at the moment. I don't see that changing, even with another set coming out at GenCon. ( I assume it won't be allowed for 200pt champs at GenCon, but allowed at VassalCon? ) I could be wrong on that, but I don't feel that 1 small set, will effect the meta anyways
