So if you look into my collection, you see I own 0 minis. This is completely accurate. Right now my friends own almost all the pieces and we usually just play the three of us. Not many people in our city play and the ones that do play on a day I work. But lately i've been debating if I should start picking them up. I know many will think this is a lame thread because its obviously a sight for the miniatures, but I don't know kind of hard for me to put money into something I play a few times a month.

hmmm at this point it's hard to get into the game. I'd make sure you have the funds cause you'll have to buy some older pieces to get started. If you don't think you'll play it enough to justify the money, then don't do it. Just buy as many rebel storm ewoks as you can and ALWAYS run that army

I am a fan of picking a faction that you like and picking up the big minis from it. I wouldn't suggest buying booster because you won't be able to focus on the facton you want.

this is true picking a faction is a good way to start but now most of the sets are when u pick a booster set ur usaly only getting two factions expcept the extend universe style packs (like ja) i had a couple of freinds just start playing and they realy liked buying imperial entaglements and clone wars cuz they were guarteed to get the same factions every time with the fun of opening a pack involved. I actuly like the system they have been doing for this very reason it helps new players starting out buying packs

I just started to buy minis and i have spend far more than i first intended to.
Got some minis that i wont need in the future anymore. So i spend like 20$ on minis that i wont play. But i dont really care about that too much.

When i look at the minis i got that i will use i spend about 100$ (value taken from bloomilk) on two squads. Two minis (GGDAC and R2) are 50$ together. Both squads are able to hold their own but wont beat anything at a pro level (you can take a look at them if you like). Well the dice can always let you win .

If you will play minis i think it is worth it. And to be honest if you dont go for Mouse Droids or the expensive very rares like i did you still will be able to make a good squad. Just pick one faction and create a nice squad. It wont cost too much. But wait until you are satisfied with your squad before you order minis. I could have saved a few € that way.

when i first started playing, i had no pieces at all, prolly for about a month.
i first bought a booster so i could get a rules insert to prove to my buddy he was cheating me (there was no way he could stack 4 separate "fire controls" against me).
the day i figured that out, i had used Imperials (as i always did), and told him to go with his Seps again (he had no idea i was onto his little scheme).
Once he started with the "Ok, My super battle droid has a +22 to hit for 40 damage twice with charging fire" I was like "no you dont, read this........Now yer Kriffin DEAD!!"
after i demolished his whole entire 300 pt squad in 45 minutes, i was sold.
i started buying boosters and singles.
he was the only one i played with, and we would get together less and less the more he realized he couldnt cheat.
so here i am, with a butt load of minis, and no one to play with. (my wife plays sometimes).
i got 4 people into the game in a matter of 2 years.
i guess my point is, get the minis you want first, any faction. build on that, so atleast you know the faction youve built has the potential to own. even if you have no one to play with, you can always attempt to teach others, and who knows? they might get into it and start like you did.

Cheapest way to buy in: buy 2 or 3 cases of the latest set (you get 4 of each Common; 2 of each Uncommon; just about 1 of each R; and 4 of the 8 VRs in each case).

Another way to get in cheap is to find someone selling their collect in bulk. You can usually get great deals for a LOT of minis. And most will sell you an entire faction. (See the Trade Forum on here for some that are selling...I know "theshadowreaper" is selling thousands of minis for dirt cheap prices)

thanks guys. i talked with my buddy last night, and i think we decided i'll start with the newest set coming out, so i can chip in. and slowly i'll build my collection. i guess were going to buy cases at a time because its cheaper if we divvy it up in 3's.

except you are paying 30$ for it.
