I'm surprised nobody else has posted this squad yet; its simple yet very effective. http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=74124--Order 66 THIS!-- 55 General Obi-Wan Kenobi 50 Jedi Weapon Master x2 16 Queen Amidala 55 Antarian Ranger x5 9 R2-D2, Astromech Droid 8 Youngling x2 6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2 (199pts. 14 activations) GOWK is back, and he's got friends! Optimally, the Antarians will have +15 Atk, 27 Def in cover and Mobile Attack. The JWMs get +16 Atk 27 Def in cover. Doombot is my movement breaker, and two characters with Riposte are my standard defense against Lancers. Since Obi is my only piece over 25 pts, I have a very good activation count and still manage to have great overall HP.

It is far from an original concept, just because you don't see it posted as a squad doesn't mean it hasn't been thought of.
Yes the stats on the JWM and antarians are sick but the usuall issues with this type of build before GOWK was banned was he seriously stat boosted JWMs and the only thing that could consistently hit them was Droids. That isn't the case anymore. Outside of the JWMs and GOWK squads like these are very fragile and often fold quickly to opposing Melee.
It is fun but smart players can counter it quickly.

Well, regardless of whether a squad is original or not, it should be a rateable squad. Same goes with a 150 pt NR squad with Boba Merc that I created. The idea wasn't mine, but I thought it deserved to be on Bloomilk.

It is fun but smart players can counter it quickly. Well, I wouldn't particularly consider it easy to counter, but I also think 3 JWMs is a better range. I also love Dash with GOWK. Generally, my pre-ban 200 for GOWK was GOWK, JWMX3 Dash, R2, Lobot and an Ug. It's a nasty squad that very little can counter well.

In fact, I just went back and updated the old version, dropping 1 JWM and the Ug for Ferus. Here it is if you are interested. http://www.bloomilk.com/squads/View.aspx?ID=16072Also, don't worry about the relatively low activation counts. It isn't an issue. These guys are all so hard to hit, and hit back well enough that it's close to impossible to take them all down even with the best gimmicks in the game.

Never said it was easy to counter, I said a good player could counter it quickly. There is a difference. Antariams are often fool's gold in builds, the 20 damage they provide just isn't that much when damage is much easier to come by without the gimicks. For instance your Dash suggestion is far more solid than the antarians IMO. I was talking about this specific build, because I dont believe it is optimized.

I wouldn't call the Antarians "fool's gold" in builds. A few are worth adding. I don't know if I would have went with 5, but I still generally like the Antarian Ranger. They can be a big annoyance for a 12 point piece. That's all you can ask.

yeah the Antarians are good with Gowk.
I know Bill and I built something very similar when Gowk was in original form. But it is still good.

creme_brule wrote:swap 2 antarians for another JWM? Nah, go with Ferus Olin. He provides an insane amount of hps for GOWK. Further, he's a beast in his own right with a 4/4, and the option for the extra damage in precision and DT. Another route to go is Zuckuss of course. Sticking a piece for GOWK and your two JWMs makes a great combo. There really are a lot of options with GOWK, it's one of the reasons he's such a hard figure to beat, you never know what he's gonna show up with, and almost all of them are very good.

GWOK and JWM were destroyed when I used a Poison Vong JH with Shapers against them. Wasn't worried... they couldn't do much against me. The Antarians and/or Dash is a nice addition though.

That's probably the worst matchup for a GOWK squad reliant on mostly JWMs. No big surprise GOWK and the JWMs struggled against the Vong.
