Jedi and Sith Holocrons Options

We've always wanted to see Holocrons represented in the game. We thought about setting their speed to 4, but didn't want them too limited. We also thought about having them be an object that could be picked-up and carried, as in one of the scenarios produced by WotC, but we're really trying to make pieces that can function in the standard game without an extended rule set.



The minis were made out of little plastic beads from a craft store. The stand is a Games Workshop flight stand. We put them on small bases.

Anyway, let me know if it looks good or if it needs some tweaking.

I think you've come the closest to getting the game 'feel' for what a holicron could do

I like the Sith one but I think at 9-11 points you'd be OK;
but the Jedi one...

The notion of a Jedi Holocron was that they contained TONS of Wisdom, teachings, personal knowledge and Prophetic messages

something more "tactics based" I think would be a better fit

like twin or block or intuition to a characer who doens't already have it...

You don't think a bunch of jedi all of a sudden being able to heal is cool? It's much more efficient than the Rodian Trader, in this respect. I couldn't think of a FP that was more "Jedi" than heal.

Thanks, Weeks! We're considering it, now that we've got the basic holocrons set up. I'd make the individually associated holocrons unique, though.

i dunno... not all jedi can heal and for only 10 hp... so what
I guess in my experience I'd rather take the czerka and work around that... for other characters

for the FP and limiting movments Id think it shoule be a BIG heal like 30-50

or like I was suggesting, some thing more "battle useful"

I suppose I should have started off asking
Is this designed for a scenario or to be compedativly viable?

for a scenario- I think both are fine, as is

If I'm facing off against players for a tournament, why would I run this piece instead of one of the other Ghosts or a R7 & Gran or Kel Dor or 4 Ugos/Mouse droids or a Czerka...?

Force Heal 10 isn't the most competitive ability, but imagine 3 or 4 Jedi Weapon Masters who can suddenly turn around and heal 10 on someone in trouble. That's 30 or 40 points in one round. For 10 points, the holocron is cheaper than 4 medical droids. Heck, in a clutch situation, the ability to heal can be game changing!

But I agree that Force Heal 10 isn't the "most" useful Force power we could put on the holocron. But Force Renewal 1 might well be, especially considering all the Force users with fixed Force points.

I appreciate your feedback. I don't take any of the critiques of our cards personally. I like going over our version, getting new ideas, agreeing and disagreeing!
