Hi i need help with my regional squad
here is the original idea
http://yqs243-site0001.maxesp.net/Squads/View.aspx?ID=82368
and after suffering several defeats i made this
http://yqs243-site0001.maxesp.net/Squads/View.aspx?ID=83640
Question is did i make it better and what else can i do to make it better?
Or should i just scrap it and make something new?

Thanks in advance.

the second version appears to be the generic FP squad that's been around for awhile. Its pretty competitive (against all but vong and GA Thrawn). Looking at your previous version, I'm not quite sure why you had Han in STA in there, but the second version is definitely an improvement. If you're going for a squad that will be good in regionals, it might be a good idea to throw a character with Its a trap! or force sense in there, as Lobbin Luke and Ganner appear to be being run quite commonly at the tourneys and to effectively use FP 4 from a distance you will need to negate their stealth.

ahhh sorry.....didn't look closely enough....thought it was just princess leia(A&E) which didn't make too much sense to me....then yea, that's all the input I have. Its a decent enough squad, especially since noone seems to be running Universe Thrawn or Vong. I can see you running into trouble with swarm squads, but those haven't been run heavily in the other regionals that i've seen. Perhaps an idea would be to run this a little different than most push squads and throw in a melee character or accurate shooter to replace VAR. That way Luke almost exclusively uses yoda's FP's to push every round and then you can throw someone else up at the front to run interference while luke wittles down your opponent from a safe distance.

The biggest problem with a squad like this is that after Yoda's force points run out (and using 2 FP 4 cahracters they run out fairly quickly) you don't have alot of other ways to inflict decent damage and so you have to hope that your opponent is ignorant enough to kill him thus giving you the force spirit to put on VAR or Luke HPU. Switching it to only one character with FP 4, you prolong and expand Yoda's usefulness to more than just a force battery and can even use him to force stun incoming threats effectively. It also gives your squad another dimension. The more options of attack and defense you have, the more paths to victory open themselves up to you.

It depends on how you want to play it. Luke HPU would be a nice cheap way to get consistent damage with FP4 and a figure you keep at the back, pushing, then mobiling out of range every round. If you go this route, you will want to keep your entire squad, especially yoda back a little longer to give him 2 rounds to build up force points so that he can help Luke get off an extra two pushes then bring him to the front to start stunning and annoying your opponent, so that he dies and gives Luke those extra FP's from Force Spirit.

If you want a pusher that can rush a group of pieces, FP some and then keep on trucking VAR is the way to go, and then supplement with a good support shooter-maybe throw in a bothan noble to give han an extra attack and then put in some filler-swap out Cloud city Leia for A&E Leia and throw in R2 with extended sensor for *its a trap to negate stealth for a round and give you extra door control. If you do this, Yoda is gonna take a more prominent role early in most cases, because you want him up front and center to help protect VAR with force stuns and you want him to become a target earlier, so that he dies before VAR so that VAR benefits from the Force Spirit.

Think of how YOU like to play, what you're best at, the strategies you employ well and go from there. For me, it would probably be easier to pull off the first scenario.

Here's my thinking. Its not the only way to do it, but here ya go. Take out VAR, keep Leia for her Force Sense. Replace Lobot with r2 with extended sensor for his Its a Trap so that you don't have to borrow FP's from Yoda once leia runs out. Leia will give you two rounds of stealth protection and R2 can give you a 3rd without having to borrow from Yoda and he's cheaper to use, that way you can give the extra force point to luke, which lets u start pushing a round earlier and you get some extra points to work with. If the game goes to round 5, Luke will have been able to push twice with his own force points, so that frees up yoda some to protect your front man with force stun. Throw in Shaak Ti-Jedi master as your point man, she's got stealth on top of the evade from Rieekan, giving her reasonable survivability from shooters and block and Riposte and MOTF 2 which gives your squad some protection from Lancer Squads and she's a pretty good beat all around (cunning gives her decent damage output) and you have 7 more points to increase your activations with.

I think Zuckuss would be great in this squad.
A good base I see is Luke Hoth,Zuckuss,Han Smugger.
Var is good too though. I am not sold on Yoda of dag I think yoda FS can do the same thing just without the tricks. Most of the time yodas tricks just make the games go longer a few more rounds. But since you really dont have the damage output to really use his tricks I would look at Zuckuss or ERC's with the points you save using Yoda FS. IF you focus on VAR or Luke you can use Yoda FS.

I considered that too johnny, but i just don't see how much more damage output you can finagle for 16 more points.

Yoda force spirit only has renewal 1 and he doesn't really have a character he needs to throw renewal on to take advantage of the Force spirit: Luke and Shaak already have it, so basically your spending almost 2/3 the points for Yoda of dagobah for an inferior force battery that provides no other benefits.

For 16 extra points with Yoda OD you get force defense to put in your squad, a reasonably hard to hit bullet sponge/interference piece, the ability to give 6 FP's and MOTF 2 to luke or 6 FP's and MOTF 3 to Shaak Ti. You also get Renewal 2 as opposed to 1 and start out with an extra force point. On top of that, you get an excellent first phase character that you can use to force stun a major threat without wasting a major activation like Luke or Shaak Ti.

he can work in Zuckuss put the spirit on him. take out Leia and 5 more points.

Droping VAR for Shaak is a great idea. But then I would work in P.Leia.
So it would be Luke Hoth,Shaak,Han smugger,Leia which really changes what he was trying to do.

That gives him another shooter. then drop Lobot uggie for a r7 noble. I know he likes lobot but thats what i would do without killing the whole idea.

Yeah....that could work. I've never been a big fan of zuckus and that's probably where we're disagreeing. I've seen some players utilize him well tho and that's definitely one way to go. Like you said, it probably just comes down to what his play style is and what he's trying to do with the squad.

differenet stroke for different folks eh?
