Ok, since my last thread devolved into an attack Bill and his attitudes towards the game and players and a bunch of incorrect stereotyping of me, let's try again.

I thought it was a good time to look at ways to improve bloomilk, namely the squad rating issue, that has been a hot bed of issues for the life of the site. Some of you will say, "who cares ratings are meaningless" and to a large part I agree. The problem is that many posters do not agree - even if they say so publically. There is more than enough proof to show that the players on here expect the ratings to mean something about competitive play.

So, not trying to make it about that issue alone, I thought let's discuss anything we might suggest that would make bloomilk better after the demise of the WotC site. For example, one thing sorely missing is an account of tournament squads, which quite clearly from our earlier discussion, and despite some trolls posting, is something a great majority of people would like to read about. So if we assume some kind of system for tournament rating, what else might you all want to see on bloo? So let's start the conversation anew. What things would you all like to see to improve the site going forward?

I'd like to see some kind of separation between tournament squad ratings and the regular ratings. Other issues and ideas?

Mod Edit: I removed baiting comments. ~ Eros

I'd like to see a more up to date character pricing list. Now I dont mean like a weekly update, but more monthly, that way the people that trade based on pricing will have easy access to the average prices of newer figs without actually going to all the sites

I would like the characters rating to be changed, because at the moment, no matter what I rate something, nothing changes at all. I like how with the squad ratings it goes into 2 decimal places, rather than 0.

Regarding the ratings issue, maybe it's time to do away with the numbered system and incorporate a "thumbs up/thumbs down" type of system. Maybe a system that has a couple of choices as oppose to an arbitrary number. For instance:

I would play this squad competitively
I would play this squad for fun
I would not play this squad

You just make your vote and still be able to leave a comment to elaborate one way or another on what you would do with it.

At this point, which pricing do you use?

I don't think a major on-line store asking $25 for UH Thrawn really reflexs his price (since they have 10 that have not sold at that price).

Then again, the buy price for an unique Sith Lord from a major on-line store is only $3. Would you sell an unique Sith Lord for only $3?

Does that mean that EBAY is the only way to determine an accurate price for a single mini?

Where do we come up the price for stormtroopers? I think they are $2 each (no one seems to be able to keep them in stock on-line).

I think that up-to-date pricing is a pretty high on the to-do list

Yes to this (Mapmaker and JC/AG7 stuff would be cool too)

And perhaps promo figures

Perhaps a radio button on the "squad construction" page. Have the default as "fun" with an option for the squad builder to select "competitive". That way raters will know what types of comments and ratings the builder is looking for.

Additionally, rating guidelines such as the following might be helpful:

1-4 minimally fun/competitve
5-7 adequately fun/competitive
8-9 very fun/competitive
10 exceptionally fun/competitive

Would it not be better to have 2 ratings for competive and fun factors?

Sure, it depends greatly on taste, but it could be really useful for different people. For guys looking for fun or competativeness.

Edit: Sorry, you already said that, my bad. ^^;

I check each of the 10 Miniature sites that I have bought stuff from / check on a regular basis:
Alter Reality Games
Auggies
CCG Armory
CoolStuffInc
Game Hollow
Miniature Market
Noble Knight Games
Strike Zone Online
Troll & Toad

I think there could be links on the home page to the sites that have taken over the different areas for the game.

For example:

Pieces: SWMGamers + Link to the site

So do we use an average of these sites "buy" prices or their "selling" price?

There is a huge difference between those two numbers. Which is more representative of the price of a VR?

BTW, I am really looking for an answer.

I don't think either the buy or sell price is the number to use. Some where inbetween (closer to the buy price instead of the sell price).

This is just what I do personally, not what BlooMilk official policy is or anything, lol. If I want to buy a piece, I look at all these sites and find the cheapest price, and I get it. What I think people need to realize is that when they're selling/trading with people on this site, they shouldn't be charging retail prices. What incentive would a person have to buying something at retail price when they can just go to one of these online vendors and buy it there? I see too much of that on this site, unfortunately.

I would love to have a list of maps as part of my collection. It would also be nice to have the ability to add one map to each squad as part of the build process. I would put this above the squad rating.

Also, as I said in another thread I would like a check box that you would select for DCI squad. This would allow you to search fro DCI squads, as well as know the builders intention and rate the squad apparently.
