Thread, yarn, fishing line, licorice, anything that's roughly string-like. Though with licorice, you gotta buy the ones that come in long ropes, otherwise you'll eat too much of it for it to be any use as a LOS tool because it'll be too small! lol

I use a badge holder, but I also made a page that can determine LoS on several maps. http://home.comcast.net/~bkchi/los/

Yes! BigGrin I'll often count out "three over, one down; three over, one down. Nope, he can't see him."

I used to use the laser lines. With all my maps in giant protective sleeves, the laser reflection in my opponent's eyes was part of the strategy. lol Now I mostly use the retractable string. It is most effective when you measure out the line of sight, then release one end to send your target flying as the other end recoils. That's where the thread comes in handy. If you want something a bit thicker than thread, try cross-stitch threads. It comes it hundreds of colors and is multiple fibers woven together so you can make it however thick/thin you want. Pretty cheap, too.

Exactly. Although I use the ID badge string also, that only gets you so close. Geometry is more precise.
But people do comment to me about my "funny line of sight" methodology.

Not to diminish in any way the work that bkchi has done with his LOS tool, but has anyone used the SWM-modded MapExplorer application?

It's not useful in-game, unless you keep a laptop next to you. But it is great for studying various placements on maps.

And it appears this is still being worked on to include new maps:
