Is someone actually going to be producing cards for these minis?

Sounds like the Virtual Sets that SWMGamers has been working on needs an official name to avoid confusion.

Has no one noticed this set was made in December 2009?! It has Lord Hoth in it...that says it all.

I got excited thinking the first SWMgamers set was ready.

Some interesting and creative abilities and commander effects. I doubt I'll ever incorporate the pieces into my own games though. Still have way too many combinations of the released figs that I haven't played yet.

yeah, the subject for this is quite misleading. I'm sure most of the views will be people thinking the Gamers V-Set is finished.

The Gamers set won't be finished until sometime after GenCon, but before the end of the year. That V-Set will be tournament legal for events like Regionals and GenCon, while things like TNLT won't be.

Yes, please change the subject of the topic to say something about 'The New Lost Twenty' instead of the words 'Virtual Set'. From what I've seen, the words 'virtual set' have never been used to describe the TNLT project, while the 'virtual set' moniker has been pretty heavily used in reference to the swmgamers project. Best to not get the two things confused.

And also, these have been out since December I think. I'm quite sure someone has created normal looking cards for them somewhere.

And there will be an 'official' name for the swmgamers V-set. I don't know if they've decided on the name yet, but it will have something other than 'virtual set'.

Fixed and moved to the appropriate forum. These will not be supported by the group that is going to be supporting official play.

there were like 18 creaters for each peice that had to agree on stats before they would finalize it, its like that for every custom on that site

I've worked on this project since the beginning, along with some very experienced customizers who have been around the game for a long time. This set of stats was created by December 2009, but these are not the stats that will be used for the NLT.

These stats were made well before Masters of the Force was released, and both Ganner Ryhsode and Lord Hoth were 'lost' characters at that time. With Masters of the Force released, the team has gone back and decided to release Hoth's and Ganner's stats as 'bonus' or 'alternate' stats. The pieces that were formerly 'bonus' stats are now part of the main NLT set list.

When we got into making cards for the stats, we noticed that some characters would not fit on normal-sized cards with the stats they've been given. So the team is currently going back and revising the stats of nearly all of the characters. Some characters will be subject to minor or no change, while others, especially the ones with a surplus of abilities and text, will be completely redone.

So, to clear some potential confusion, these stats are not exactly what will be used for the NLT project, but they are pretty close to what will be used.

I'm also one of the people working on this and I'd like to add that the Thread marked "December 2009" was when the first of the stats went up; we were still finalizing the last of the stats when MOTF came out. Thread replies only change the particular replies contents, not its date creation; the last "Edit" was April, 2010, just a few weeks after MOTF's release as we reassessed Hoth and Ganner.

We are still working on cards and if the team can, like the original TLT team, we'll have instructions on actuall mini's that can be created with a modicum of talent and $, hence the reference to The New Lost Twenty. An example of what we want to do is posted at

http://community.wizards.com/arctrooper-a79/blog/2009/12/04/alto_stratus_tnlt

Please don't judge the work till its finished.

As for use with sanctioned play, we haven't even gone into a discussion on that, but simply a creation of new pieces on par with the concept of the original The Lost Twenty, or TLT.

"Virtual set" is a term that's been in use for years. While SWMGamers will be calling their sets "virtual sets"--and it's possible that the term was coined on their site--it's been in common usage with SWM customizers (and, presumably, other collectible game customizers) for quite some time.

Like Surf and BH, I'm one of the creators for TNLT and would like to stress that we're still refining our work. We're doing our level best to make our virtual set (yes, there, I said it) as close to something that WotC would've made as possible, and in the wake of the release of MotF, we're re-evaluating and refining some of our work.

It's true that this set will not be sanctioned for offial competition--but then, neither was the original Lost Twenty, and lots of folk seemed to enjoy that one.

Please be patient. I'm hoping we'll have our set finalized sometime during the summer.

I agree with Gwek on this.

There should never be anyone saying "don't call your custom created stats this because we're doing it and we're official".

I've released at least 3 sets of custom stats I created on the BlooMilk and swgamers forums in which I've called them "Custom Sets". Had I called them "virtual sets", which would have also been grammatically correct, and someone asked me to change it so as not to confuse it with something else someone was doing I would not be happy. It's not for me, or anyone else to set a board member straight on whose creation is what.

The funny thing is that if the swgamers sets become tournament legal, they really cease to be "virtual" at all.

/end rant

You want to be upset with someone, be upset with me. I'm the one who changed the title and moved the thread. I did it to avoid confusion. The way this thread was presented, it was not clear what it was, and based on what I have seen, people are already comparing Virtual Sets with the new stuff being made at Gamers.

The stuff that is being made for official play has been referred to as Virtual Sets. Do you know why? Because 2 other games use that moniker for the new cards they are making for their out of production games. Whether or not they keep that name or not when refferring to the new stuff is a different matter.

Not really upset, I guess I don't see the point of this whole discussion. Why care at all if one forum member is confused about what? It's their responsibility to inform themselves. If it was a matter of a custom set being in the General forum, then you of course did the right thing. If it was a situation where someone uses the title of "The Lost Twenty" and is not differentiating themselves from the original, then again, you did the right thing.

I just don't think that the creation of custom, or virtual sets, characters, cards, etc should devolve into something... (trying to come up with my words carefully here) unpleasant. I encourage creativity.

I like what most people are creating these days, with custom cards or sculpts to stats. I have my own opinions, of course, but so does everyone.

Anyway, I should probably respond to the original post.

- 15 of 21 characters have CE's- and a lot of them are movement breakers. A lot grant SA's (which helps offset all of the direct stat CE's already in the game) and a lot of them are multi-part CE's. I do this too. A lot- but as I look at my own creations, I often wonder if it's a bit much.

- Not a fan of Superior Deployment. This is a continuation of "now we have the bigger gun" and I'd rather see something a bit more creative.

- I originally thought Befuddle was underwhelming, then I noticed that he does 0 damage has Diplomat and Disruptive, so it works.

- Lord Hoth is interesting. Probably just what the faction would need. IMO far more interesting to the OR faction than the MotF version.

- I think Darth Zannah is probably the best piece in the set. Well represented without reinventing the wheel.

We picked them because they were a big part of the group that was "Lost," or never officially made, and obviously unique pieces. If you're going to create a unique, create a useful one I say ...

Much of our discussion/arguments revolved around trying to make them useful, but not all-powerful; also, later discussions centered on the simple fact that the SA's, FP's, and CE's actually need to Fit onto a card. You look at some people's stats and they look nice but there's No Way that they'd actually fit onto a real card. We're trying to create not just stats, but cards and hopefully mini's ala' the Original "The Lost Twenty." Maybe once we're all done with school, Finals, and everything we'll actually finish this :)
