Variable Cost Booster League (VCBL) Rules and Regulations.

The variable cost booster league (VCBL) is a Bloomilk league where the cost of the boosters varies based on popularity. The more a certain booster is purchased, the more that booster costs.

VCBL will follow the regular sealed tournament rules(unique is ignored). [EDIT: weeks 1, 2, and 3] will be 150 point construction based on what you have received from the boosters you have purchased. [ EDIT: Weeks 4, 5, and 6 will be 200 point construction based on what you have received from the boosters you have purchased]

VCBL will follow the newest DCI tournament rules http://www.wizards.com/dci/downloads/SWM_FLR_26Jan10_EN.pdf except as follows:
1.Map selection: the map selection will be different than the normal restricted map list from the DCI rules. It will be defined by the players as is described below under “Maps”
2.80 minute time limit. The regular 60 minute time limit is extended for Vassal. If both players agree, game may be played out until other victory conditions are met.
3.Victory will score 1 point, loss will score 0 pts, bye will score 1 point.

The season will be 6 weeks, with a finals lasting up to 3 weeks to break any ties that have occurred (no boosters will be scored during the finals weeks).

Booster Points: The first week, each player will receive booster points equal to the number of players.
For example: If there are 8 players, each player will receive 8 booster points.
In the first week, every booster will cost exactly half the number of players (rounded down). Following the example, 8 players would mean that every booster pack costs 4 booster points. Starters cannot be purchased.
Each week, the players earn points based on whether they won or lost. Winners get booster points equal to the number of players. Losers get booster points equal to the number of players minus 2. Those who did not make a scheduled game get booster points equal to the number of players minus 4. Byes get booster points equal to the number of players.
Each week, the boosters will change in price because of the previous week's purchase. For every booster that was purchased from a particular set, that booster increases by cost of 1. If a booster was not purchased in any given week, that booster decreases by cost of 1. For example: our example means that for 8 players, Imperial Enganglements(IE) costs 4 booster points the first week. If 3 boosters of Imperial Entanglements were purchased, the price for week two is 7 booster points. If no boosters of Imperial Entanglements were purchased, the price for week two is 3 booster points.
[Exeption: The cost of a booster will never be more than the amount of players.]

Maps: The map list is as follows FINAL MAP LIST

Mos Eisley
Nightclub
Power Regulation Chamber
Freight Transit Station
Rattatak Arena
Commerce Plaza
Christophsis
Coruscant Streets
Swamp Caves
Desert Sanctum
Exodus Class Heavy Courier
Offworld Shipping Center
Nar Shadda

Smuggler's Base
MP2 Abandoned Casino
MP2 Anchorhead
MP2 Blackpit Slums
MP2 Dantooine
MP2 Kashyyyk
MP2 Korriban
MP2 Mustafar
MP2 Ugnaught Mines

All of these maps are in the SWMinis mod of Vassal version 10.0, and it is expected for each player to have that mod to be able to play in this league.

Weekly Matches: Each player will be playing 1 weekly match (unless they have a bye, of which they will only have once). The players will be assigned randomly to their opponents, but they will only play each person once at most. At the end of the 6 week period of the booster league, the finals will begin for any amount of players with the best record.
Results must be posted in the appropriate thread in the Bloo Milk forums.
Results must be in this form: Winner name (final score) vs Loser name (final score) on Map name
You can follow with any notes you wish to post. If the winner's final score was less than 150 points, it will be assumed that time was called after 80 minutes.
There will be no make-up matches. If you haven't posted your match by Friday morning, you will receive booster points based on not playing. (total players minus 4)
If any player misses two matches, they will be dropped from the season, and their previous opponents will receive Byes (along with the difference in booster points)

First Week Schedule:

Friday, July 16th : Each person interested in playing should express that interest, as well as posting which 2 boosters they are purchasing for the first week, and which map they would like to veto.
Saturday, July 17th : Each player will receive their first two boosters, along with their opponent for the week (to be played by Thursday, July 23rd

Weekly Schedule after first week:

Thursday - All matches must be played and reported by Thursday night.
Friday - Booster prices are posted as well as booster point totals for every person before or on Friday morning. Each player is responsible for posting their desired booster purchases in the appropriate thread in the Bloo Milk forums on Friday.
Saturday – Booster pulls will be sent to each player through Bloo Mail Saturday morning.

P.S. I think there should be some sort of deal where everyone gets an Uggo in case ppl pull door control.

I think that throwing out the 6 most balanced maps in the game is not in the League's best interest. Just a thought. ;-)

I think it's fine. What surprises me is that the most unbalanced maps (e.g. Endor) were kept on the "potential" list.

I'm in. I haven't decided on boosters or map veto yet. Just wanted to reserve my spot if there's a limit on the number of players.

(p.s. With close to 40 maps on the "potential" list, if the league doesn't get much larger than 10, I'd suggest that everyone gets a second map veto. Maybe that's just me, though. Twenty maps to choose from should be plenty.)
