When you first started playing the game, have you ever ordered a mini online because it was cool, then as you got more experienced, you realized that that mini would almost never be used in any format?

Also, have you ever experiemced the opposite of the above? You got a mini you thought would never be used and now in ends up in over half of your squads?

The first mini I bought online was Quinlan Vos, Infiltrator - he's not that bad, but not really worth paying VR prices for if you're not a collector and just want effective pieces to play with.

Generally I just use a Jedi Weapon Master instead of Quinlan - 8 points less, a lot cheaper in $, and I think they're pretty comparable in stats and abilities, unless you're running a stealth squad or you want recon for reserves.

I bought the original Emperor Palpatine from RS for about 7 or 8 bucks. I played him several times, wasting up my opponent. Then I bought an IE pack from my LGS. I was hoping for Rieekan or Vader, but pulled the new Palpatine! Now he's the one I put in every second Imperial squad lol! I'm sorta gutted I paid so much for the old one :(

I bought the Clone Wars starter because I wanted a map, dice, the little damage counters and a rule book of my own. I didn't realise GOWK had had such an impact on the game, and now that he is un-banned he features in quite a few of my republic follower squads.

I haven't bought all that many singles online.

One of my earliest purchases included Mas Amedda, Captain Antilles and San Hill. You can guess which ones proved to be more useful. Oddly enough I have never pulled any of those since. ThumpUp I also got Sevs and JWMs in that batch, and those were well worth it.

I later bought R2 Astro knowing full well how good he was. I paid kind of a lot for him, but prices have not gone lower since then, so I'm OK with that.

The first group of singles I bought were Luke HPU, Obi-Wan Unleashed, Xizor, a Sith Marauder, and VAR (all without cards since I didn't know cards were important). Not too bad a judge of quality, I would say, lol.

I held off from buying him for a long time because of how expensive he is. But then I saw him for a reasonable price one day so didn't really have a choice.
