Went 4-0 in a friendly tourney last weekend with this pretty simple squad.

Malak's Rangers

--Malak's Rangers--
49 Darth Malak, Dark Lord of the Sith
23 Jedi Crusader
18 Lando Calrissian, Dashing Scoundrel
48 Antarian Ranger x4
5 Youngling
6 Ugnaught Demolitionist x2

(149pts. 10 activations)

IMO, while its a decernt squad, itd be more effective in a repub squad with GOWK as he grants +4 atk/def and he has mobility (functions). The OR currently is too weak to support strong players (though, with the coming of the V characters; ex. The old republic senator; will potentially change the game status)

I think it's fine in Old Republic. The Rangers have Stealth and they'll be at a 19 Def with Synergy, which isn't bad. Malak is more versatile than GOWK after SSM was changed.

i think it depends on your style. I prefer defense (GOWK); but some others prefer versitility more (malak). They cost virtually the same; just 6 points off. You could take out a youngling to compensate for the cost. Anther suggestion is taking out both crusader and malak and putting the jedi exile.

I found that Malak's damage output (Lightning and Sith Rage) was quite essential to the success of the squad.

This. His damage output is your main weapon, with your rangers sniping harrassment from the back either taking out scrubs or trying their beats. With a 15 att they have a fair chance of hitting.

nice squad. I like it. plenty of activation, so you can pull of lando's opportunist(with malak's CE to reckon with, as well), and the rangers taking shots at +15, that's a decent chance on any character, so the only thing I really have to say is: watch out for accurate shooters.

If any change you can drop Lando and 1 Ranger for Dash RS and another Ug.
