Hello... New to the game..

SO I see that Double Attack I can use in place of moving...

But what about other abilities?

Lets say I Have a melee attackig char. and He needs to move 6 spaces to get to the enemy.. Can I use one of my Abilities during the attack? or since I moved to get to him I can only do a normal attack...

Do normal Abilities like (Bounty Hunter +4 attack against Unique enemies) work only if I dont move? Like Does using an ability instead of move count as activating?

Same with Force Powers.. Can I move 4 spaces to get line a sight and be 6 spaces away, then use Force Push? Or can I move like 6 to 10 spaces to get 6 spaces away to use force push?

You can use any ability that says "Replaces attack" on it.

No, they always work, unless under some circumstances like enemy characters with It's a trap! so you would lose stealth, or there are conditions, like cunning/opportunist

Yes, you can also "tap" a character, where you don't move, but consider your character as activated.

It depends on how far you move, and if the Push replaces Turn or Attack.

I hope this helped.

It is rather simple, abilities will state when they are usable, and whether they require you to not move or not.

As for the rest, your normal turn actions are move up to your speed (6 is the default) and attack, or vice versa, or moving up to double your speed. When you use abilities that say "replaces attacks", it literally replaces the attack portion in the above sequence. So you can move up to 6 and then Force Push 1, or Force Push 1 then move up to 6, or you can move up to 12 and not Force Push. "Replaces Turn" abilities literally only allows what the abilities allows. The rulebook and glossary tends to cover this pretty well.

got it.. Thank you....

NEW questions.. Just played tonight with Bro

1.) So Boba Fett (Flight) Say I cant fly over walls.. What about doors?

2.) Now a question about Furious Assault... Does this mean I can move 12 spaces, and what ever enemies are within the 12 spaces, I can attack?

Cause it says Move double speed, then attack every legal target once....

3.) Lets say Im in a building, but the door is open by an enemy player, but the enemy uses another guy that is outside of the building.. Now this guy has line of site, so can he still attack through the door if it's opened?

All I can think of ATM

No, a closed door is considered a wall for all purposes. This is covered under the rulebook entry for doors.

No, you move, then make one attack against every enemy who would be a legal target from where you end your movement. This is covered in the glossary definition of Furious Assault.

Yes, an opened door is effectively considered not to be there. This is covered in the rulebook entry for doors.

Also, please make a new topic for additional, unrelated questions. It helps keeps things less confusing and makes it easier for someone to check to see if a question has been asked before.

Flight does not say you can fly over walls. Just pits, characters, cover, and terrain.

If the guy has a million "how to" questions, i dont see the point in cluttering up the forums with a million threads.

A door is opened when a character ends his turn next to it. So another character may shoot through the door as long as there is a character who has ended their turn next to it. Likewise, when the character who has opened the door moves away, the door remains open until the end of that characters turn.

To give you an example. Lets say you have your enemy in the building. One of your pieces opens the door. The next piece, outside of the building can now shoot through the door at the enemy inside.

Now lets say this enemy has double attack. His first attack hits and kills the piece that opened the door. The door however, is still open until the end of the turn. So the enemy can now make a second attack against your second character, even though the original door opener is no longer there to hold the door open. When the turn ends, the door shuts.

Hope this didnt confuse things more Wink

I recommend he read a rule book. If he doesn't have one then I recommend getting a clone wars starter, they are pretty cheap now and then reading the rules. I then recommend reading the glossary, I am sure there is a link somewhere. Going to the Holocron is a good source of Q and A relating to SWM. This is what I did and now my questions are few andfar between.

Aside from getting a copy of the rulebook, the link in the first post of the Rules Resources sticky at the top of this forum will take you to the official FAQ, Errata, Glossary and some other great guides on the Holocron site. (maintained by NickName)

As wannabe stated, a thorough read of all this stuff will cover almost any questions a player could come up with.

There's several points:

1) It reduces confusion in a thread as the discussion is only about a sigular topic.

2) It makes the forum easier to search (As that is what people are supposed to do: give the forum a quick search to see if the question has already been asked and answered).

3) That's how we are supposed to do it, as the proper way to ask and answer questions has been taken from the WotC's forum almost verbatim.

EmperorDragon is correct, but you arent required to make a new thread every time you have a new question, and while the issues he brings up are real, if the OP is willing to take those chances, then I think its up to them. Let them ask their questions how they want.

Also, not to bash on wannabemexican, but I really HATE it when someone puts 'read the rulebook/glossary/errate/faq' as the entirety of their answer. When I say hate, I mean loathe. That gets under my skin more than anything else on the swm boards. 1) If you do know the answer, couldnt you have just posted the answer, as it would take about the same time, and the OP would have their answer sooner, rather than having to still look it up, through the entire lengthy rulebook/errate/glossary/faq? 2) if you dont know the answer, then by posting the abovementioned text, you are just trying to up your post-count, which is just being lame).

Again, not hating on wannabemexican. just really hate that as a general rule.

When someone has questions so basic it's obvious they haven't read the rulebook there's really no better advice than recommending they read the rulebook for themselves and not spoon-feeding them answer after answer. Odds are for every one thing they're asking about, there are 10 other things they don't know or are doing wrong simply because they don't have the proper foundation. You may think you're helping them, but you're often doing them a disservice. That's how we end up with so many players who've been playing wrong for so long it's ingrained. Then they finally get into the larger community and get frustrated by how different the real game is compared to how they've been playing. (You may of course make age-appropriate exceptions.)
