What are the rules for tile wars? I've got a tournament coming up and I have never played the format before.

Rules are:
Tiles must allow at minimum 2 points of entrance to the other players tile. (2 squares allow you to move in, tiles that allow 1 are banned).
Characters with Diplomat lose that ability.
Characters cannot use Override to close doors.
Squad can assemble anywhere on your tile.
Ready, set go!!!!

I think I get it. So, the battle is fought just on those two tiles and there is no map. Is that right? Or is a map still used with the tiles placed adjacent?

Just the tiles. These games are very different from what you would normally play on a map since there is much faster pace to the game. Most games end in 3-4 rounds.

There are other tiles than just the ones with 1 open access square that are banned. Just bring all you have, if any. I'll be bringing all of mine, so I'll have some to lend out if anyone needs any.

Are any of those banned besides the 1 open access squared ones?

I don't recall if the names of the tiles are on them, but the legal ones are named in the thread I linked.
I'll e-mail you a pdf that has thumbnails of the tiles by set with their names.

THe best thing about tile wars is you don't really have to waste points with door control and extending CE ranges.

I am not sure if any of Mapmakers or cartographers are banned. although i do know that at least the train ones are legal.
