Of all the factions I play, none give me more frustration in terms of squad building than the NR. I have most of the pieces needed to field a decent NR squad (sans Ganner and KKJB) but can't seem to get by a few things:

1. It seems that Han GH and Mara Jedi would be a good fit as Han's NTMTO helps Mara get her Cunning off and he's a nice shooter to boot, but they both have Cunning Attack. With the new init rules, I find it difficult to justify putting more than one Cunning Attacker in a squad. I could use Han and just attack pieces that haven't already activated using his Accurate Shot, but does this use justify his points?

2. If I use Mara Jedi, its probably a pretty good idea to use Wedge to give her evade/mobile. I like to have balance in my squads so I could choose Han and/or Dash RS as shooting support, but they already have evade. It seems like it would be a waste of points to have Wedge just for Mara.

Again, I have some decent NR pieces but I can't seem to get them in a squad together. Am I not seeing the forest for the trees? Are there steadfast rules about How many Cunning Attackers should be in a squad? Are there also rules as to when to use Wedge and when not to?

Thanks in advance.

Teaming Mara with Wedge often turns out as a waste because she alread has Stealth, so she should be pretty hard to shoot if you place her properly.

A good start is:

9 General Dodonna
45 Mara Jade, Jedi (Stealth, Quad/Cunning assault)
29 Ganner Rhysode (Stealth, Levitate)
50 Han Solo, Galactic Hero (Evade, Disruptive, NTMTO, Cunning)
27 Lobot (Override)

If you use mainly Stealth/Evade figs (which is common in the NR), Wedge isn't needed, and you can use those 23 pts on something else.

Well you can have a ton of cunning attackers that doesn't matter. Han/Mara has been deadly for a while now and even won a regional this year. You should get your hands on Ganner most def. And Kyle will be even more important to Combat the New Sith pieces.

Almost every NR squad you run (with the exception of GMLS squads, which aren't very common anyways) will have either Mara Jade or Kyle JBM in it. I prefer Mara because of her ability to run up 6 and still be able to attack 4 times, and with Cunning she can pretty much nuke any figure in the game in one activation. She tends to end up being a suicide piece in my squads, but I generally aim to try and trade her for a higher-costed fig on my opponent's squad.

And I'm also a big proponent of Ganner. He's been in every one of my NR builds since I got him. Having Levitation is huge for being able to move Mara into spots where she can run up and do some nasty damage, or for levitating GMLS or Kyle JBM (with Triple Twin and Triple, respectively). Also, giving Kyle Greater Mobile is useful, depending on the type of squad you're running.

well, to begin with, I think that han is overcosted in the first place,ThumbDown but yes, he is a good piece, even WITHOUT cunning. What I would suggest is getting Jaina Solo to let han in armor in, and use with mara to wreak havoc with charging fire.Love ThumbsUp

First, thanks for everyone's input.

From what I am gathering so far, putting Han and Mara together is fine despite the Cunning Attack conundrum I posed. I am also getting the impression that adding Wedge is not an auto-include with Mara. Now if I don't have Ganner and it is unlikely that I will get him, would that change things? I can see where having Ganner allows Mara to approach much safer, but sans Ganner wouldn't she need some protection aside from stealth?

I find Wedge the perfect way to help anyone. Evade for ranged attacks and Mobile for if you want to Double/Twin in and out of cover. Hiding her behind a big beat ( such as Kol or Shado Vao) can probably be pretty good, too.

I always have, and always will, like using Shado Vao in NR squads.

GMA and his defensive powers means that he lasts longer than he normally should and can, as mentioned, be used as a screen for Mara or other figs. Not to mention he's useful vs. Lancer/YoBuck...

i like Talon Karrde, i tend to put him in lower point cost squads along with Wedge and a Czerka scientist, sometimes adding in Han RH via Jaina Solo.not the most incredible combo but it helps me keep the pieces dust free.
