Before the V-sets, I scrambled to list on the WOTC boards the Ultimate Missions stats for various pieces. Now that WOTC isn't producing anymore, I have a real hard time finding the boards and can't remember some of the details and comments.
Yesterday I was shopping with my wife and found a board game called AAT Attack which I picked up because the AAT toy included was about the same scale as the SWM pieces and I knew there were stats for it in the Clone Strike Ultimate Missions book.
I dug up the book and re-read the stats for this vehicle (rather underwhelming) and here's what it says:

AAT Battle Tank
Cost: 50
HP: 180
Def: 16
Att: +2
Dam: 10

SA:
-Huge
-Mobile Attack
-Laser Cannon 30: Instead of making its normal attack, an AAT Battle Tank can target an enemy with its laser cannon. This follows all the regular rules for choosing a target. The target takes 30 points of damage. Using this SA is considered an attack and requires an attack roll. The AAT cannot target an empty square with this ability, nor may it use this ability in the same round as it uses its Missiles 20 ability
-Missiles 20

I typed up all the laser cannon info because for the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would not choose to use that rather than the regular attack (30 vs 10 damage... no brainer?). Now, if fighting Jar Jar Binks or a shield bearer, that might be understandable, but these guys didn't even exist when this book was made up.
So. What I want to know are these two things: How can I easily get into the old WOTC message board topics again, and can anyone explain the advantages to using the regular attack rather than the SA attack for this vehicle? I thought someone in the message boards explained this at some point and it seemed to make sense. Than again, maybe it was another oddity that I'm remembering.
Speaking of the UM stats, there were several alternate stats for various vehicles and pieces. The only things I couldn't do at the time were the AT AT map stats for things like shield generators and gun towers. I've since found that booklet and would be happy to add those stats as alternates for things like Golan towers, etc... If anybody's interested.

"ecause Laser Cannon 30 'replaces attacks', it cannot be used for attacks of opportunity.

So essentially, the AAT can attack for 30 damage on its turn, or if it gets an AOO, attacks for 10 damage. I suspect that was the primary intent.

Also, because Laser Cannon 30 'replaces attacks', it cannot be used with any form of Extra Attack (Double, Triple), however, because the damage is resolved using an attack roll, it does count as an attack, and therefore could get Twin. It also means any abilities that resolve in response to an 'attack', work.

That's the way I interpret the way the Laser Cannon 30 ability is written."

So you can't boost the attack stats of the cannon or use with other ce's (twin/double)

Thank you! That makes sense. Although my book is at home, I will also find time to copy and ask about the Gungan Catapult stats, as I have questions about that one as well...

Keep in mind, I don't Rob spent a lot of time or made those stats. See the eventual 16 pt drop in the AT-ST.

I would play the AT-ST a lot more at 38 points.

I remember talking about this on the WotC forums. cymonguk sums it up well. It replaces attacks, so it can't be an 'extra'd and can't be used in an AoO, but it still counts as an attack, so Twin, Evade, or other effects that apply to attacks will still apply.

Aside from the Gungan Catapult, the other two stat blocks of interest are TC-14 (essentially a fringe C-3PO), and the IT-0 Torture Droid.

There's Shmi Skywalker stat block, but it's designed for the scenario she's in, and all other stats that appear in the set have official versions that came later in miniature form. If you want an R5 Astromech with Override, that's in there.

Here's a Clone Wars-style card I made for the AAT, with a very simplified version of the Laser Cannon 30 ability, and Rigid added. It's 150dpi for printing.

Thanks for the card! That's awesome. Um, got any others? It's 1 of 5, what are the other 4?

I like it! Now what to use as the miniature? I have not seen the AAT Attack board game around here yet.

Here are the other cards I've done...

Gungan Catapult

TC-14

Interrogation Droid

These look close to being the correct size for 300dpi printing, but I'm not sure. They're designed to be printed on card stock. Do a rough cut out, leaving at least a quarter inch around the card. Then score between the two halves, not cutting all the way, just enough so that it folds easily. Put paste or rubber cement on the two halves, then fold it over. Once the glue dries enough, trim it down so that the edges look clean on both sides.

The miniatures I used for each are:

AAT - Motorized Trade Federation Tank from the Galoob Action Fleet line, with motor stripped out and mounted on a Snowspeeder base. This is an expensive option, and hard to get at this point. The non-motorized version is even more expensive. The more recent and cheaper option is the AAT/Battledroid Commander from the Star Wars Transformers line. It's slightly larger, but probably more in scale. I haven't seen the AAT Attack Game one, though I'm guessing it's smaller.

TC-14 - C-3PK painted silver with some blue and white highlighting. I went with C-3PK because he's a bit better in scale, a little easier to get, and the communication device he's holding looks a little like a drink mixer. You might consider using a little fill to patch the chest damage.

Gungan Catapult - The Gungan Catapult accessory set from the 3.75" action figure line. It's still relatively cheap and easy to get a hold of. It's a little over sized, but can be mounted on a 3" base.

Interrogation Droid - Galoob made a Droids set for their Micro Machines line. They aren't quite Action Fleet scale, some of them being significantly larger than they would be for AF. The Interrogation Droid in the set is very nicely scaled for SWM, it just needs to be painted black, and mounted on a Mynock base, or any other base with a peg added to have it 'floating'.

Those cards you guys did are awesome! Thanks for sharing. Why does the gungan catapult have an attack value of 3 but causes no damage? Rationale is what for that? Is it tied to cunning/opportunist commander effects? It looks sort of half baked as a set of stats because of it.

No clue. You have to ask the guy who wrote the UM books. Would have been nice if the line had extended long enough for Sterling Hershey to do a few.

The above link shows the AAT Attack game box and set up. The little clone troopers are about the right size for the minis, so I figure the tank is about right too. It shoots plastic discs and has moving parts as well.

I picked up the transformer fighter tank and find it a little big for the game, but the size also makes sense in comparison to a lot of pieces. There is a picture of a destroyed one on one of the atst maps which looks significantly smaller. I like the fighter tank stats, but I'm a little unsure of the medium laser cannon ability. For example is the +10 for attack or damage? Does anyone else have anything to share?

I have just recently procured both the Transformer and the Actionfleet AAT. I will put some pictures of them both up with minis for comparison. But they both look useable.
