Okay. I check the top squads almost every day, and I'm used to seeing the same few squads in top 200 squads when you click on "My Squads", like Greentime's "smug commandos", Uggiedemo's "They're just that good", "Gimp imps", etc. Then a few days ago, they were all replaced with other squads. For a while, the old squads didn't really move in the rankings. So back to my question: What the #*!? happened????!!!

squads age out all the time to show new "top squads" happens all the time.

Hey, "Smug Commandos" was MY squad!   Greentime made BeefBuck. It's a good question. I'd assume that somewhere in the algorithm for what gets onto the "Top Squads" section there is an "age" value. Once the age gets sufficiently high, the squad starts to drop off the list. If you have favorite squads that you like checking out, you should add them to your Squad Playlist to keep track.

It's best to report this sort of thing ASAP on the bug report/feature request forum.
Combined with some other comments I've seen from around that time period, it sounds like there was some sort of hiccup in the system. I have no idea of what the cause was though.

Personally, I'd think that the answer to your question would be obvious: People rated other squads highly, and people rated the top squads lower

I think its ok to age out older squads. That awfull 88 Point revan squad was on top for like 2 months. Its also cool to see how peoples mindset changes set to set.
After DotF drops we will see a lot of newer squad designs, and i think that is really cool. I'd rather not see the same squad sit on top for months and months.
PloBuck still #1 all time for no apparent reason though. It is nice to see it still up there, but there are pleanty of squads that have more votes then it and have a higher ranking so thats a little wierd.
I think it be cool to have all the Gencon/regional/big tourney winning squads up. That gives guys like me with nothing to do during the day a good grasp on the national meta.

Yeah, the 'Top 5' list has a time limitation on it. It was something Shinja added a while back and I think it's pretty cool. Mostly because at the time, things that were competitive 1-2 sets ago were still staying on the Top 5 list, even if they weren't that great anymore (like, a swarm squad being up there, around the time Yobuck came out). So, if things cycle off the list every now and then, it keeps that from happening. The cool thing is, there's the 'Top Rated Squads' link under 'Squads', and anything that drops off the Top 5 you should be able to find on that link still.

Looking further into it, the 'Top 5' lists definitely have their own logic. When this topic initially came up I was looking at the "Top Rated Squads" listings and getting confused, because the content of those are closer to the raw numbers, and totally different from the "Top 5" lists.
