I'm not the biggest fan of making a custom myself, mainly because of the work involved and my lack of skill, and it's just so easy to put off. However I certainly have a few, favorite characters I've been thinking about that I would love to have V-set cards for, and, heck, having a cool set of V-stats to use in the game for someone like Sora Bulq might actually hype me up enough to make to finally make one of my own. As a result, I've been quietly buying up a few specific pieces here and there for the express purpose of being my "body bank" for certain mods I'm considering.
Has anyone else been doing this, or more? Or maybe you're thinking about paying a friend to do such stuff for you? Or are you completely against V-set cards for characters that were never made and have no easy equivalent to be found in the minis line?

Got to be customs all the way for me! I like to have something that really fits the piece, no offence as to what the recommended minis are! These were picked for ease of use or availablity to newbies and olds.

I'd love to customise, but I suck at it I'll be sticking to the Recommended minis.

I'm with CM, it just bugs me if I have to use a piece to represent a different character.

For most of them, I'll be doing the same, but there are certain ones where I just won't be able to bring myself to use the suggested mini. Hmmm, I'm still a little confused as to how much we're allowed to talk here about the V-set cards that were previewed at other sites like the Holocron instead of here so I guess I'll dance around it rather than naming them exactly, but certain new characters like some of the new Mandalorian figures seem to getting assigned to non-Mandos like the Shadow Stormtrooper. Now I know they have a good reason for it, but it still bugs the heck out of me. For me, it'll be sort of like fingernails on a chalkboard whenever I see such a figure on the map. The whole time that new Mando is running around doing his thing, my inner fanboy will be screaming, "but it's a Shadow Stormtrooper! The helmet is WRONG!!" I know it's a nitpick and beggars can't be choosers, but I can't help it. The look of the figures in the game has always been paramount to me. It's why I've never even used certain figures; if I can't stand their sculpt, I can't bring myself to use them on the battlefield, and stats be darned. As a result, I'll have no choice but to do at least a few figure mods. The Shadow Stormtrooper in question is going to be replaced, either by an extra Mando of mine painted the same way in all black or else I'll use a Shadow Stormtrooper sculpt but with a Mando head - again painted black - glued on instead of his own. There are certain figures I would avoid using though. Like if they ever did a V-card of Ziro the Hutt. I'd love to have gotten an official mini of the character from Wizards, but a V-set card would be useless to me because I'd hate to just use a "generic" Jabba for him, and there is absolutely no way no how I could ever do him justice with a custom paintjob. It would be way beyond my meager skills.

About the only thing we ask you to do is not post the full stats that were given to another site. Talking about everything else is fine.

Personally I'm going to be mixing and matching, some cards I'll just use recommended minis (Darth Revan, f'rex), some will be simple repaints (Old Republic Senator), some will be using different minis (using either Darth Sidious or Anakin Force Spirit for Exar Force Spirit) and some will be customs (Mandos, Sith Inquisitor). So probably the perfect storm of confusing my opponents

The V-sets are actually giving me the excuse I have needed to get into customising. I used to be into WW2 wargaming and always enjoyed putting together and painting those models so figure it will be fun to experiment a bit with my minis.
I think the Yammosk will be my first port of call thanks to the helpful examples of custom Yammosk figures over on Gamers.

I think the v-sets will be great for orphaned pieces. I have about 12 or so pieces without cards. It'll be nice to be able to just give them a small paint job, and throw them in with the rest of my collection.
Im a little OC and dont like cardless minis in the same boxes as my normal collection. Likewise, my trade fodder goes in a different box.

I'm all for using customs for v-set pieces.
I like seeing the creativity of people (which pieces they use, which components they take from other figs, paint schemes, etc) and this gives them more opportunity to showcase that talent.
I just don't have the time / patience / desire / talent to do that for all 40 figures. So, I might do one or two for some favorite v-set figs, but will mostly use the recommended figs.

I'm generally ok with customs, but I've heard about people hacking up an RS Jabba just for salacious crumb or cutting the LS off exar for the FS version. Cutting up VR's just makes me cringe.

If anyone wants some customs made, PM me. It's been a while since I've done any requests, and I'm almost done with the fall semester.

For the new Mando, i'd suggest a simple repaint of the Senate Commando ;)

I have had a big splurge on spare minis to customize and am looking forward to creating new figs !

FYI: No it's not. :) What is it ? The current Rebel Snowspeeder is a representation of Wedge's as his had the red markings. So really you should customize (repaint) your other Rebel Snowspeeders. To what, I don't know.

LOL So what Azman said was true.....from a certain point of view. @Dreadtech...I'm impressed man. 80% done is pretty sweet, but of course, you do have a bit of an advantage having been a playtester and knowing most of the recommended minis already. :P I intend to start work on customizing after Thanksgiving. I've got a couple other projects taking up ALL of my free time right now, but they should be wrapping up soon. I'm looking forward to working on these.
