Forking a discussion from the "Pre-DotF Tier 1" thread... What will Tier 1 be once DotF is released? Uggie Demo wrote:I've just got back into the minis world recently and was wondering if the meta had changed with the characters that have been revealed so far. Last I heard was that every faction was getting something and that they were trying to make all factions playable. I've seen a few of the new characters and looks like to me that the above is true. cicrush13 wrote:Well right now from what stats have been released, Sith have definately gotten the best power boost out of any faction. I think we will see a whole lot more Revan/Bandon combos out there now. Jester007 wrote:Let's not forget about the Vong. After seeing what the Yammosk can do, I am tempted to start testing a Vong squad to possibly use for Regionals. That one piece solves a lot of problems those masochists have been having. But I digress.
It will be interesting to see what the new meta will be once DotF comes into effect. Any takers?

The designers seem to be doing a great job. I wouldn't be surprised if Tier 1 includes at least one squad type from every faction.
Jaina, Sword of the Jedi was the most requested figure in the votes for what people want to see... so I'd assume she's in there and probably on the level of Revan in terms of being a power piece (probably lower cost and power but equally powerful when taking cost into account).

Just have to wait. OR, Mandos, and Vong both have some pretty impressive stuff still to be revealed.

Sith Revan Builds will be T1. Revan's weakness is KKJBM and Rebels, he can beat most of the other matchups he has depenging on his build.
Mandalorian's get a bunch of good tech pieces that they have been lacking that will give them some t1.5 builds that will destroy otherwise good squads.
Vong i predict will be in everyones mind when they are designing new squads. Their main beat character costs 20 points and is pretty ridiculosly hard to kill for that low of a cost. Look for mandos to be used a lot as a counter to the purple people eaters
Old Republic can filed some pretty mean Anti-Melee squads, the OR Senetor hasnt gotten that much talk and it was one of the first pieces out. The Senetor and Jedi Seers will be in most OR builds now.
New republic. Kyle+Mara is going to be even more important with all the new killer CE's out. Kyle will continue to get better each set. "kyle katarn once got into a lightsaber fight, he won the lightsaber lost"
Rebels get some neat tricks and cool stuff. Their build is still roughly the same.
Seps have loads of options now, Their main squad "Lancer" didnt get better it just got worse. Look for lancer to still be dangerous though. I predict Whorm builds taking over GGDAC builds in power.
Republic. Not a ton for them. The double Death shot squad is T2 but OMG is it fun to play. The Spaarti Clone is a good scrub killer and door control piece. Ill prob use 1-2 in my Rex squads to kill uggies for me +5 attack (with rookiee) is nothing to sneeze at for 5 points. I'll be using Ki-Adi in my Yobuck squads, he has some really fun tricks
Imperials. B&B variants still. They get debuffed a bit against vong, but that really depends on the build.
Thats just my opinion. I'll comment more once everyone gets their cards :)

I do have to agree with what Weeks said. I think that (from the stats released so far) Vong and Sith may be the toughest factions to play against. Vong just b/c you can have cheap monsters and copy a CE from your opponent. Sith just is nasty with Revan swapping himself with anything for that matter.
I played against Weeks a few times on vassal. Since I haven't really copied all of the stats down, I haven't play tested anything yet. To say the least he whomped on me 3 different times. So far the worst beatings came from a Revan/Cad Bane swap. He decimated my monsters in 2 turns! I'm going to find it very hard to stop Revan without lots of disruptive pieces covering my end of the board.

I don't see kyle being that big of an issue for the the vong. Sure, disruptive drains about everything, but a vong jedi hunter with shaper boosts can still tear right through him.
And when most of your vong have wedge's evade/mobile attack, it will be a lot harder to keep the swarms from reaching katarn.
I think the old republic has some potential. Their ability to battle the ever dreaded lancer will definitely put them on a more competitive level then they have been. Without seeing the factions full stats though, all I can say about them now though is the same thing we've been saying about them for the last few sets. They're one good commander effect away from tier 1.

The awesome thing is, you guys haven't even seen the best pieces from pretty much any of the factions yet. There's awesome stuff still in store. You guys do realize that only like 32 pieces out of the 60 have been previewed.... :)
