Let me know if I can't talk about this - I can delete it.

---

The new Imperial Admiral has an interesting CE.

It seems like the most popular use for him would be to allow a choice of tempo control... so you don't get stuck with Ozzel versus Smug Commandos for example. Or you can take Tarkin if the enemy has serious Accurate Shot threat.

Another possibility would be to choose between the higher cost Tarkin and Imperial Inquisitor or maybe take Veers.

Overall it's a neat idea but I'm not sure how much it will be used. What do you think?

or, you use him and a high cost commander vader, and you can swap out for a more appropriate one based on enemy squad.
ie have DV LotF, and swap him for Lord Vader or for Palps SL :P

Palps SL could hose clones, true. For the higher cost commanders, I was thinking that in general the whole squad would be built for that particular commander, but I guess there are situations where Legacy/LV would have an advantage even if the rest of the squad stays the same. Maybe Legacy vs Disruptive or LV vs Ozzel.

I don't think it would be bad to be a little more informative. If the main difference between having or not having the stats already is proximity to a big game group, I don't think it would be bad to do a little sharing. But not like it matters, I think the pdf is out tomorrow. BigGrin

Cards are in hand, so feel free to spoil to your hearts content. Mulitple people have stated that they are fine with spoilers now, since they are technically released.

It gives the Imperials an interesting amount of flexibility. It is sort of like a Reinforcements with varying costs. It is something you have to be very careful with. I'm sure Ozzel/Jag is going to the most common version, which isn't very game breaking imo, as Seps already have a way to bring in San or not, and Dodonna is already optional.

The higher amounts you go, the more risky it gets. Sure, you may think it is a good idea to swap out Lord Vader, but who will you do it with? LOTF is an okay option, I guess, but if you go to the next playable Vader, Scourge, you are wasting 16 pts. That starts to put you at a disadvantage. It is a slim range of figs that you can swap a fig out with, which is fine as it keeps it from being overpowered.

And you take Lord Vader vs Disruptive, always. He laughs at the restrictions of Disruptive.

Someone spoiled these for me at my request (much thanks!) - I don't have the cards myself. Just sharing what I received.

at the start of the skirmish, after set up, you may replace one allied Imp commander on your squad with an Imp commander of equal or lesser cost

Goes all the way back to BHs, gosh those LV vs Vader JH arguments were fun. Nothing better than making a squad popular, arguing for it for months, then having a new Vader come out a few months later that is absolutely perfect for it, only to have a ton of people telling you it wasn't :)

But yes, as was then, as is now, LV laughs at Disruptive, then swaps in 7 away, moves 6 into base and kills it. Unless it's Kyle, who he has to wait until the start of the next round to finish off :)

The biggest problem is that you are already paying for pellaeon so it really is an expensive cost to make work. I think moff nyna is interesting as you can swap to Ozzel or if you need more firepower can swap to a storm commando. Definately a cool piece that I will have a sweet custom for. Just haven't figured out how to totally break it yet.

Nyna to Ozzel is a pretty big drop. Getting rid of Ozzel when necessary seems like the most common use. Pelleon with Ysalimiri, mediocre stats and decent HP means he's not only for the CE. You get a decent piece out of it, too.

You guys are missing one key aspect of it, since the spoiled stats written above are not entirely correct.

You must replace one "imperial commander" with another "imperial character". So the new piece doesn't have to be a commander as well.

Remember a few times where people hinted that there might be a use for the old Rebel Storm Darth Vader, Dark Jedi?? Well, this is it. :P

Can actually work pretty decently in a Mith'rawn swap squad, like the Vader Scourage squads which have done well in recent months. But you run Vader DJ to start with. Then you can bring in either Vader Scourge, or depending on the opponent, go for Vader Unleashed.

That is a pretty big difference - thanks for catching that. I won't fault the person who spoiled it for me, though. He took the time to type it in so I could see a few things a couple days early. :-)

I think Palpy in chair is great since a lot of time he can be useless.

i think joruus c'boath could be really good for this... if you get a team built for not letting you take direct damage from force or something... swap him out for another character who is more attacking based or something.

You could play Moff Veed. Then fire him and hire Moff Tarkin instead :P
