Hey folks! This isn't a Star Wars Miniatures-specific project, but I though some of you might be interested. (If not, I apologize for the off-topic thread.)

I've just launched a Kickstarter page where backers can pre-order my next set of printed poster maps! For the first time ever, I'm launching 3 related posters (6 maps) all at the same time! These share a fantasy theme appropriate to a D&D campaign set underground, but a creative GM could still use them in Star Wars or a game of any genre, really:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mapmaker/deep-vistas-poster-map-set

These printed posters will not have the colored terrain lines on the maps, because the bulk of the audience for this genre doesn't care for them, but I will make a PDF version featuring those terrain lines lines available to all backers. That way if you want to play SWM on these maps, you'll be able to do so. (I don't think any of these would be tournament-friendly anyway, but I might be persuaded to do SWM adaptations later on if this is successful.)

Please check them out, and consider supporting the project with a pre-order pledge! This is the only way to get my posters with free worldwide shipping. (Also: no money changes hands unless the funding goal is met by the end of January.) Even if you can't afford to pre-order a poster, please mention the project to any and all friends who might be interested; a project like this lives or dies by word of mouth, and I need all the help I can get; this is a big one, and its success or failure will determine the nature of my business for the rest of the year.

Thanks, folks!

Chris

The maps look great even in tiny on-screen view. Lots of scenario possibilities for these. I do hope the funding goes through as I would really like to get these for home play.

Hi again, guys!

This got off to a good start, but has slowed down considerably over the last day or two; if you can help me get the word out through blogs, Facebook, Twitter, message boards, or anything else you can think of, I'd be really grateful. (The success of this pre-order drive is pretty vital to my business this year.)

Thanks!

Hi guys! I do have a public Facebook page, with some close-ups and images of these and other projects I've worked on:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Christopher-West-Cartographer/147546801928346

I keep hearing that PayPal is working on a service that would allow it to work with Kickstarter, but near as I can tell, Kickstarter still only works with Amazon's financial service. I'd prefer PayPal as well, since that's what my store runs on.

Thanks for your support, folks!

We're about half way to the deadline and not quite half way to the goal; anything you can do to help me get the word out more broadly would be awesome and very welcome.

Hey folks! There's only one week left on this project and while the SWM players are aware of it, it doesn't seem to be reaching the fantasy gamers very well; if you can share the link with D&D players you know, I'd really appreciate it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mapmaker/deep-vistas-poster-map-set

I've just added a new reward tier that lets backers get a copy of my D&D adventure along with the poster maps, without needing to buy several other products. (It used to be that you could only get the adventure with a $100 pledge; now all six maps and a PDF of the adventure can be gotten at $42.)

Thanks, guys, for helping me get the word out!

If anyone was thinking about supporting this map run, last weekend to get in on it - can't procrastinate any more. :) The goal is getting close but the deadline is too close as well. If you don't have the finances right now - consider a combined order from your play group.

Thanks, Squid89! :)

Yep, only 44 hours left to back these maps; They're not SWM-centric, but could still make for some interesting casual matches and scenarios if we can get them into print!

Today's the last day on this, and my final "bump" of this thread. (It ends at midnight tonight.)

If anyone wants a shortened link to the project (for example, if you're willing to help me out by mentioning it in these final hours on Twitter, Facebook, or elsewhere), here it is: http://kck.st/e9xXaZ

Thanks, folks!

Whoops, one more "bump": to thank this community for helping me get past the goal line with this project! The funding goal has been met, so these maps are going to see print after all!

Got my maps in the mail earlier this week and just had time to take a close look at them. They are absolutely beautiful in the artwork and coloration. The tiles fit seamlessly in design and color for variation of play. I like how the maps connect to each other as well and you don't need two sets to connect them. The front and back connect to other front and back ones in the set. The terrain is very easy to imagine for SWM game play, but looking forward to the "official" PDF markings from Mapmaker. If you are into themed or scenario play at all this set is worth getting if you had not pre-ordered.

These do look pretty sweet. I will tell my playgroup about them!
