Alright, i used to know this answer & i've seen the answer a billion times but for the life of me forget it & can not find it anywhere.

When a character has affinity to be in another faction i.e. master kota, his card faction is rebel but has affinity to republic if no order 66 is on republic. Anyways even though he is a rebel, when you put him on a republic squad does he then become a republic character, like if there were any commander effects that state republic allies etc. Is he now considered republic or is he still considered rebel. This question can be for whatever other character has that kind of affinity, just wasnt sure.

Thanx in advance.

Glossary def:
Affinity (Republic)
May be in a Republic squad

(expanded def)
The specified character can be in the specified squad even if it belongs to a different faction. That character's faction is now considered to be the same as that squad's. For example, Mas Amedda would have the Imperial faction if he is in an Imperial squad.

Along those lines, is Jaina, Sword considered to be a Mando, and therefore can be included in Sith Faction with Ulic? Or does she also need Mandalore the Ultimate (or the new people) in order to be in a squad with Ulic? My thought is she needs a character with Mando Conscription in order to be included in a squad with Ulic, but I'm not sure.

She can't be brought in with Ulic. Ulic brings in Mandalorians, but Jaina is NR. She can be in a Mando squad, at which point she would become a Mandalorian, but until she's in a Mando squad she's still NR. Mandalorian Conscription wouldn't allow Jaina into a Sith squad, either. It counts people as Mandalorian for the purpose of CEs, but doesn't count people as Mandalorian for the purpose of getting into the squad in the first place.

I'm answering this using the exact logic that was used to explain why you can't bring in a YV Ossus Guardian with Garm Bel Iblis. It's the a similar situation so I assume the same rules apply.

Jaina is only Mando in a Mando squad. When you use Ulic, you are creating a Sith squad.

Mandalorian Conscription does not affect squadbuilding, as it takes place after a squad is made. Nor does it change a Sith squad into a Mandalorian one.

According to the wotc rules forums, NN said that if Mando the Ultimate was in a squad with Ulic, it would now be a Mando squad. The question was regarding Sith Hunter and these 2. Sith Hunter would no longer work, but Mando Hunter would. I did a little bit of research before posting, but I just wanted to see if I understood the dynamic correctly. Thanks for your responses guys. :)

So the timing is what is key here. When squad building, Ulic makes a Sith squad, but when the skirmish starts, they are now all considered to be Mando because of MtU. Mando Conscript doesn't affect them until the skirmish starts. Got it. Thanks! No more dreams of having Jaina bodyguard Darth Cadeus...:)

i think sithborg was referring to squad building for the faction. It does change the faction of all pieces in the squad to mandalorians, however it would still be a sith squad. Because of the fact that that is what you started with. it is only really important so that you cant bring in things like jaina.
