And I believe that you have to state if you are going to try Lightsaber Riposte (or Lightsaber Defense) before you roll your Djem So Style save.

Riposte, yes. Defense, no. The full glossary defination of Djem So specifically states that Riposte decisions must happen before Djem So.

So you declare Riposte, use it, then do Djem So?

You have to declare your intention to use it or not before rolling for Djem so and you are required to maintain that decision regardless of the djem so outcome. I don't think the order of which you roll for first makes a bit of difference.

I think that once you declare the riposte that you would interrupt the sequence and resolve that. Then you would resolve Djem so and any other abilities that might trigger from being hit. The only reason you have to riposte first is that the glossary says that you do and every other ability you have to do basically as soon as you announce it. For instance you don't declare LS block, and then roll to see how much damage you take (ie poison) and then go back and roll for the LS block.

When you declare a Force Power, you must use. This is essentially an extension of the "storing" Force Powers issues.
