What would you guys suggest for replacing lightsabers in custom figures?

You are gonna have to be more specific here. Do you want to make lightsaber users but have no spare lightsabers?

I use Paper clips cut to size and then paint them.

Just remember to make sure that you know where all of those are. I would hate to read a horror story of someone finding them the hard way... with their feet (note: this kind of happened to my dad).
