I would like some feedback on something. Ive noticed since ive been trading on Bloomilk that only about 5% of the trade offers I send out via Bloomail to members ever reply. Now I am 43 and have no idea the mind of a young person and it might be considered "normal" to ignore any offers you are not interested in. I personally think a simple "no thanks", "thanks for the offer but im going to pass", "thanks but not interested" or anything along those lines is ok and not offensive to the other person. Ignoring to me seems very disrespectful and I just want to know how you guys do it, if you get an offer you are not interested in is it proper to reply anyway or just ignore??

i am in the same position as you. Some people dont even come online anymore; others dont check their messages at all; others genuinly forget about messages that you send to them; and yes; a majority of people just plain out ignore your message. I dont know why it happens. I always respond to every offer i get; the only time i dont is when i literally forget about the message i was pondering over.

Oh ya I agree with you Boba. This has irked me quite a few times myself. Me, I always respond yes or no to an offer. That way the other person isn't left hanging for several weeks wondering. And if it's no, I at least give an explanation as to why. That way they won't be put off to send me another offer in the future.
Twice I had a successful trade with two different members with everyone happy with the whole trade when they were complete. Then later when I shot a BM with a second trade offer both people ignored the BM. And both were active and older members of the site. Now I completely understand that life can get in the way. But even a simple "no thanks" would have been nice. How difficult is it to click a button and type in 8 letters then click another button. To me it's just flat out rude and disrespectful to ignore a BM. And neither one of these guys were children. Which made it all the more annoying to me.
I will say this though I have shot out a trade offer and then got a reply like a month later. The guy hadn't been online for a while. So that was nice that he at least replied eventually. :)

Hey in my defense, I started to deal in some trades and then my router crapped out over the weekend! My radio silence was out of my control! (:

Check to make sure they logged in recently. Sometimes people decide to think about it and never stop thinking...

Totally agree. When I get an offer I want to decline I will always send you a quick message to make sure both parties can move on or renegotiate.

You and I haven't conducted any business as of yet and this type of issue I would understand. One of my first high dollar mini trades done on Bloomilk had this same issue. The other guy PM'ed me over at the WotC boards and explained the situation to me. I completely understood. Which is why in my above post I wrote, I can understand life can get in the way. I doubt anyone is directing anything in this thread at you. We are just voicing our opinions.

Agreed but, communication either way as a yes, no or even a still thinking message makes for a better trade experience. Yes, I second that. "Yes", "No", or "Undecided at the moment" is not too much to ask in my opinion. At the very least I would hope to be sent one of those three responses. Completely ignored and left wondering until I finally give up is not. One thing I do is wait about a week, if I don't hear anything back at all, I'll shoot out a polite reminder. In case they read the message and forgot to reply. Or their inbox is so full they didn't see it. Both of these two things have happened before and then later turned into excellent trades. If my second BM is ignored I retract my offer and move onto the next person looking to trade. This is based off of my personal experience and from asking questions with more experienced traders like Chucka Fett and Hothie, when I first started trading with people here. I have had +50 good trades here with another 3 in progress and I hope to continue doing business with people here. It's been quite enjoyable. And once again, I completely understand that life can get in the way. And other people here may not get onto Bloomilk as often as I do. Or their power craps out on them. Whatever the case may be.

So I thought I'd highlight it... People have to remember this is a game. It may not be as high a priority in life as it is to others. It's fine to be gungho and want to collect every mini possible, but not everyone is in the same boat. (my wife would disagree here...) Patience is the key. A week for offers is pretty standard. Once initiated, a trade could take two weeks easy to finalize, then there's still the shipping to wait on. Especially if one person has to send first and then the other returns. It takes a bit of time for a good trade to happen. And if someone does not reply, then just move on. Consider it a no-go. It can be disappointing, and can get frustrating, when PMs go unanswered at all, but such is the stuff of life. Learn from Luke's mistake and trust Master Yoda...
