Ok, not looking to start trouble with any particular member here, but I saw an issue that I think needs serious discussion and debate. In my experience of trading, you can never use references from another account, regardless of the circumstances, on a different account.
On Bloomilk, there is someone trying to use references from another account as his own, and using it to promote trading with him. For reasons not worth going into, he lost his original account on disciplinary issues. But that shouldn't ultimately matter.
My question for the community is, should a member under any circumstances be allowed to claim references from another account? My opinion is no almost 100% of the time. I recognize there might be extenuating circumstances, (like you lost your password or some such), but it automatically creates a problem. There can be no official tracking, and people can smurf another account easily. There is no way to be 100% sure that the new account is absolutely the same as the old one. I know some places have the ability to confirm accounts and transfer, but that's very limited, and my experience of bloomilk is that it is not nearly that secure of a forum.
So tell me, should a person be able to do this ever? Or should they for good or for ill, lose those references? Further, if you choose, "sometimes" please explain what situations would allow it. Also, if someone loses an account due to a ban, would that change your opinion?

I belive sometimes. Because I traded with a member who said he had an old account that he couldent remeber the pass word for. I went back and asked 3 different people that he had traded with if the new guy is who he said he is (ex, ask him what the two of them traded) I got a yes from all 3 people I messaged and now were in the process of shipping back and forth.

Nope, never! There's simply too many loopholes to be exploited. For example, anyone could impersonate a member with a high GTL ranking who hasn't been around for some time. Losing your password can be resolved by contacting the webmaster i think, but if not i guess that's the only exception. If you repeatedly break the rules of the site and ultimately get banned, then that's your own choice. You lose your account, and with that your GTL rating. Too bad, but you knew the risk. Removing banned members from the GTL altogether would actually be a great idea i think.

I don't think it can be allowed. How do you police it? How can you ever truly know that they really were that other username?
As far as people who have lost their accounts through banning, I think the answer is obvious. If they were welcome here they would never have been banned. They shouldn't be posting, squadbuilding or trading. They already lost that privleage (and yes its a privleage, not a right, to use a privetly owned forum) through their actions and that's tough.

Sure you can't allow it, thats an easy answer. The problem is you can't really police it unless its clearly obvious. Trader Beware is about the best you can do.
If you think the deal may not be a good idea its up to you to trade or not. If both parties uphold their respective ends of the trade then why worry about it? I've not seen 1 bad comment about people trading with jak or Darth Jak so why is this suddenly an issue bill?

I accidently hit the anytime button. Tryin to post from he droid for me is like Chewed Tryin to use his big mits on the Millenium Falcon controls. I meant to say never although are times it might be acceptable it might create way too many problems and loopholes.
