So I was wondering.... can i lock a commander in a room with someone who has override, and use a mouse droid to make his range limited commander effect work on people outside the locked room? For example, can I use Emperor on Throne, and T3-M4 and lock them in a room, and still have Vader, Unleashed and a Mouse Droid outside the room to use Vader's lightsaber throw, or force grip?

Throne Palpy's CE has no range - it works everywhere, unless you are disrupted. Substitute a different commander with a range-limited CE and the answer is yes.

Yes, Relay Orders still works if your commander is locked in a room. Mas Amedda's Booming Voice on the other hand cannot be used if a line cannot be drawn between himself, your commander and your character benefiting from the CE.

To be clear about Mas Amedda - it does not matter where he is, but the part about being able to count range between the commander and the CE recipient is correct. Mas extends the range to "unlimited", but does not make a CE range-less.

We had just such a situation last year at my regional. Since I knew it would be used, I researched it beforehand. The player locked Mas Amedda in the room with the commander and had a mouse droid outside the room. The mouse droid made the commander's CE accessible outside the room, Mas Amedda made the CE boardwide.

Just nitpicking, but with a mouse outside the room, Mas makes the CEs unlimited range from the mouse, not boardwide. Other closed rooms would be blocked from getting the CE.

Are you saying that the presence of Mas Amedda in the room with the commander allowed the mouse droid (located outside of the locked room) to broadcast boardwide? I wouldn't think it would work that way since Booming Voice is a SA not a CE. But then again, perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

It doesn't matter where Mas is. Booming voice makes all range 6 CEs become range infinite (you just need to be able to count to them).
So if you had Thrawn locked in a room (can't count to anywhere) and had Mas in your squad and had a mouse droid outside the room that Thrawn was locked in, you could swap anyone who was within infinite range of the mouse droid because you can count range from the mouse droid for CEs (Thrawn's swapping in this case).

I guess this is another one of my noob moments. OK so Mas can be locked in a room by himself, you just can't lock your commander in a room without having a way to count range from said commander to the follower who is benefiting from their CE? Right?

Right, and the only way (currently) to do that from outside the room is by using a character with Relay Orders. Currently, that is only the Mouse Droid. That could change with future v-sets.

The best way I've seen the difference between "board-wide" CEs and Booming Voice explained is that you can pretty much consider Booming Voice to change the CE to range 600 instead of range 6. You still have to be able to count from the commander OR the mouse droid to the piece receiving the CE, but you have a practically limitless number of squares to count. If the commander is locked in a room, no matter how many squares you can count, you'll never reach the recipient of the CE.
Where Mas Amedda is on the board has no bearing on the use of Booming Voice.
