You heard it right. Check out the articles: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/04/27/superman-renounces-us-citizenship/http://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/04/action-comics-900/?pid=3519I can't believe it. What next? Captain America already went rouge and became Nomad in 1974, and now Superman is no longer fighting for "Truth, justice, and the American way?" What's he going to fight for now, the "humanitarian" way? What's the world coming to? In light of this event, I have decided to compile a list of superheroes and what they're going to do after they retire or decide that they're too good for America anymore. Before I start, I just want to say that the point of this list was just to have some fun and poke fun at the changes being made to our beloved superheroes. It is not intended to offend anyone in any way, and I apologize if it does (if you have any issues with it, please send me a message, instead of posting here, and we can talk). -Superman is going to go join the European Union. -Captain America, now Nomad, will become Captain Communism and move to North Korea. -Wonder Woman will become United Nations Woman, marry Superman, and the two of them will visit Captain Communism while they vacation to their summer home in North Korea. -The Hulk will join the Committee for Nuclear Responsibility and become a strong advocate of the "go green" movement. -Wolverine and Cat Woman will get married (after he gets declawed) and become members of PETA. -Iron Man will renounce his faith in technology and become a member of an Amish community. -Thor will set aside his power and hot temper to live as a monk somewhere in Tibet. -The Human Torch will turn down his thermostat to reduce his carbon emissions and help fight global warming. -Spiderman... haven't thought of anything for him yet... Anyone have any more ideas to add?

So, is Superman going to apply for a visa or just be an illegal immigrant? I think it is a result of the kind of work I do that my first thought was "I don't know that Superman qualifies for an entry visa"...

I don't think we have to worry about that one, considering Johnny Storm was ripped apart and eaten by evil bug-men from the negative zone a few moths back.

Why would he have to renounce his citizenship to be able to do something new or different? What kind of statement are the authors trying to make?

I was trying to avoid the homosexuality jokes because this is a family-friendly forum, but since we went there... The Green Lantern and the Green Hornet will move to Canada where they can legally become married. Well, if that's the case, Spiderman won't retire yet because he gets to join the Fantastic Four, just like Johnny wanted... how stupid... The FF just isn't the same without a guy that's constantly on fire.

He is from Krypton though. Also, maybe Superman is just too big to be held to one country. He is an international symbol of justice, so should exist beyond the bounds of a citizenship.

You may enjoy "Red Son" which deals with what would have happened if Superman had landed in Soviet Russia and been raised as a communist. http://www.amazon.com/Superman-Red-Son-Mark-Millar/dp/1401201911

Firefly was a shortlived tv show that was frickin amazing. Created by the godlike Joss Whedon, it was basically Space Pirates but in Old West-type settings. It spawned the movie Serenity and several comic book tie-ins.
