I just heard this reported on the news today. And a buddy of mine had emailed it to me.

The last surviving veteran of the first world war has died, he was 110 years old.

"May all these brave men rest in peace, but live eternal in our memory." Quote from CC-23478

Makes me feel proud to be a Veteran. Smile I can only hope to be around as long as he was. I bet that guy saw a lot in his lifetime. I believe they said he was also a WWII Veteran.

May he rest in peace.

My Dad has a term he uses, which I have forgotten, which basically says WW1 will soon be passing out of living history or something. This takes us one step closer.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Probably "living memory", i.e. is there someone who was there and remembers and is still alive.

I believe that is it. WW1 is just about to pass out of living memory. Thanks.
