I apologize if this has been covered before but the search function doesn't seem to be working and I'm not about to look thru 96 pages of rules posts to find it. Does Soresu Style Mastery work only for ranged (blaster) and melee attacks? Or, does it apply to anything considered an "attack" like Force Lightning, Force Push and/or Force Grip? Thanks.

Soresu Style Mastery works only for attacks.
Lightning/Grip/Force Push are Force Powers, not attacks, thus not negated by SSM.
A side note: DCI rules and the subsequent SWMGPA rules for tournaments state that SSM only applies to non-melee attacks.

For tournament play, SSM only works against non-melee attacks. This was changed in the floor rules last year I believe.

Jester is correct. For all Tournament/SWMGPA (previously DCI) games, SSM was changed to only nonmelee attacks (which works against adjacent nonmelee attacks, basically a stronger version of Evade). In non-Tournament/SWM it works against all attacks (melee and nonmelee). Obviously non-Tournament play is stronger which is why it was changed for Tournament play.

What I do is go to Google and type: site:www.bloomilk.com/forums [search query] That helps me find things while the search function isn't working.

Now I'm really confused because according to this it applies only to melee attacks: http://swmgamers.com/e107_files/downloads/SWM-Rulebook.pdfMakashi and Soresu Style Mastery: Both Count Dooku and Obi-Wan are masters of certain lightsaber fi ghting styles. When either character is hit by a melee attack, he takes no damage with a save of 11. (However, Obi-Wan’s Soresu style doesn’t defend against Count Dooku’s Makashi style.)

SSM has a long standing history of being a huge eff-up. When it started out, there were differences between the card text (all attacks) and the glossary text (all melee attacks). Eventually it was declared by Rob that the card text (all attacks) was the one that was supposed to be correct, thus the glossary text was ignored. Then, because of how abusive it was, GOWK was banned from all tournament play. Eventually it was decided to allow GOWK back in for tournament play but with the change that it affected all nonmelee attacks (whether adjacent or not). Thus, you have two options: Tournament Play = All nonmelee attacks Non-Tournament Play = All attacks
