Ok if I understand this right, to qualify for "Rend+X" all you have to do is land 2 successful hit in a row?
Doubel Claw IS NOT a melee attack
Blaster Upgrade gives jolt to base 20 damage attack (to attacks that are not melee)

so looking at the Trandoshan Elite Mercenary, you could Pawn him adjacent an enemy (assuming you have some one like Whorm and a Czerka near by) Twin attack that character (hopefully rend with the attack from the twin; Blaster Upgrade (Jolt them)) take your 10 damage, then turn aroudn and activate the Trandoshan Elite Mercenary for his normal turn and Regenerate 10 hp, Double claw attack, twin attack, rend+10, mighty swing and Blaster Upgrade ((Jolt); again just incase the 1st twin attack jolts were saved against)...

for a total grand total of

Pawning attack; base dmg 20, twin (rend+10): 50 damage plus 2 chances at Jolt Blink

Normal Activation
Double Claw Attack (adjacent character), Twin Attack, Might Swing (+10dmg on each attack), Rend+10 (Twice due to Double Claw Attack + Twin); Jolt Four Times for a Total of: 20+20+20+20 (base attacks)+ Rend 10+ Rend 10+ Mighty Swing +10 (x4 =40 damage) for a whopping 140 damage OMG

added to the Pawning damage that's 190 damage Potential to an Adjecent target?! Scared

I just want to make sure I understood *if* this was possible, by reading the card right and how those SA's, CE and FP could work together right?!

and yes I understand the Trandoshan Elite Mercenary base attack stinks...Unsure

Twin attacks do not trigger Rend nor do they count for Rend's trigger. Also, only the first two attacks will trigger Rend. A character with Triple Attack will not trigger Rend if they hit with the 2nd and 3rd attacks. This is covered in the FAQ.

It goes:
Attack A (First Attack)
Attack B (First Attack's Twin)
Attack C (Double Claw Attack)
Attack D (Double Claw Attack's Twin)

If attack A and C first hit, then C would get the damage boost.

A Transdoshan under the effects of Lothsome can do a potential 130 damage against a single target. Though the key word is potential as he's not hitting much with a 7 attack.

Also, keep in mind that in order to pawn the Merc, it must have no legal targets at the time, or it cannot move due to the Mercenary restriction.

I'm goin to have to go with that's BS ruling! Seriously...Rend+X doesn't even specify that it has to be used WITH Double Claw Attack...it simply states This special ability applies to some characters who can make more than one attack against an adjacent enemy. If two of the character’s attacks hit the same adjacent enemy in a turn, the second hit gets a +10 bonus to Damage.

Meh...some times I wonder why I even play this game with it's ridiculous rules interpitations/rulings..

yes. hence "Scenerio"....

but it apears it useless anyways since Twin doesn't even work with Rend+X

I agree that you should only get Rend +X once per turn. But why wouldn't you get it with Twin? He's still making two attacks. Where does it say that Double Claw or Extra Attack is required?

Rend
Q: If a Yuzzum or Wampa gets an immediate attack or Extra Attack from a commander effect can this attack trigger Rend?

A: No. A character with Rend must hit with both its attacks from Double Claw Attack or Double Attack on its turn for Rend to trigger. Extra Attacks, and immediate attacks that fall before, between, or after those attacks do not factor into the determination of Rend.

Apparently here...^^^

however casual reading of Rule Book Interpitations would allow one to make a COMMEN SENSE ruling of Twin + Rend X that they would work together...

If one wasn't aware of these baords...that would be a fair and just ruling IMO.

It's idiotic half-@$$ed ruling liek this that make me scratch my head, so Lightsabe SA isn't a Melee attack, but an ability that only states that two (successful) ATTACKS made against the same ADJACENT target is granted Rend +X, is ruled to ONLY work with Double Claw Attack (or Double Attack). *scratches Head* and NOT Twin attack (which makes you attack the same target (in this case adjacent target) TWICE!

Hoenstly I Think Double Claw Attack should be a melee attack and NOT qual for Blaster Upgrade either... *scratches head again*

Just because it doesn't work as you think it should, does not mean it is wrong. Common Sense and "real world" logic have little to do with Rules. If you want to figure out the exact reasoning, I suggest you contact Nickname or search the WOTC forums, since I do remember the thread where this ruling came about.

That said, I am closing this thread, the question has been answered correctly, and does not appear to be discussed calmly.
