Question: Can Loda use FD on Lord Vader when he is attacked by him, even though he was activated before (of course provided that he has enough FP)?

To sum up: can u use FD outside of your turn? Because the wording seems to indicate that you can:)

You can use force defense right before someone in range uses a force power and right after someone declares it.

As I understand it, yes you can use Force Defense on someone else's turn, providing you have enough Force Points.

For instance, you could use it to cancel Lord Vader's Sith Rage provided he is within 6 squares. You could then use it on a different character's turn as well, for example if Emperor Palpatine, Sith Lord wanted to Lightning you, you could cancel it.

In fact, thanks to good old Master of the Force 3, you could use Force Defense up to three times on each other character's turn! Go Loda.

I do have a related question of my own, though. Does Force Defense have to be used at the exact moment when the opposing character declares their Force ability? Or, could you say run up to Bastila JM on your turn while she has ABM going and cancel it, even if she declared it some time ago?

Force Defense Glossary Definition:
"(Force; 3 Force points) A character using this Force power cancels the effects of a Force power used by a character within 6 squares. You must decide whether to use Force Defense immediately after the other Force power is declared but before it takes effect. That Force power is still considered to have been used that turn, and the affected character still spends the Force points."

So you can only declare Force Defense when the other FP is announced. So you could only Force Defense ABM at the exact point Bastilla begins it. But if you run up to Bastilla, why not attack her and cancel the Force ability? Or you could use Force Stun on her and then the Force ability is negated because she has to roll a save.

Force Ability Glossary Definition:
"Force abilities that don't last until the end of the skirmish are negated prematurely if the character using it rolls a save, spends Force points, makes an attack, or is dealt damage."

Never thought of using Force Stun to cancel ABM. You can move full speed and then use it, and it shouldn't even matter if she is already activated. ThumpUp

I don't think a lot of people have thought of that. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people hadn't even read the definition at all. Force abilities, while very powerful, are also easily turned off with a simple save for Grenades/Missiles/etc. Hardest part is just getting to her...

Hmm, seems Shinja has not added that definition to Glossary Terms. :(

I noticed he never updated the glossary with any stuff from DotF, so after talking him about a month or so ago I sent him an email with text for all the definitions (and errata). So he has the material and just needs to find the time to update it, no clue when that will be but it's at least on his list of things to do...

For now, you can download the DotF Glossary on the front page of SWMGamers under the Downloads section.
