If you could remake Bloo Milk from scratch, what would you change? What would you keep the same?

I'm especially interested in ways that the current features could be better than they are.

Thanks

I think it's great the way it is.

The one thing I think is neglected is maps. It would be great to have a maps section with all the official maps (WOTC and map packs/Maps of Mastery) listed, pictures of them, room for comments, and with their status (open/legal/restricted). It's only aspect of Star Wars Miniatures where Bloomilk isn't quite a one stop shop at the moment - if I need to find out about a map, I need to go digging round other sites.

First, I have to say I love the site.

The one thing that I really don't like is the search characters screen. You have added some nice features in recent times that can be nice, but there are a few problems with it in my opinion.
Number 1, anytime you check a check box the top most selection also gets checked for some reason. Very annoying.
Number 2, you can no longer jump to abilities. I used to just click on the drop down menu and start typing the ability name to quickly select the ability. I understand that now you can select multiple abilities, but it takes me twice as long to do it. Another small thing is that it always jumps to the top of the list whenever you make a selection. I don't know if that has something to do with number 1 since the first selection always checks its self.
I guess since I'm already yapping I don't really like the info on the My Squads page. If most people like it then it makes sense. But I would rather see info like, the number of activations, total health, average att/def/hp. I would even like a + - button that would show the characters in the army. Maybe that wouldn't work, but just saying what I think would be cool.

Thanks Shinja

I generally agree that nothing really needs to be changed. There is one thing I would love to see added though ... a stat card generator. I love that we can post custom stats, it would be extra cool if those stats could be exported to a printable stat card template, no matter how basic. I don't know how difficult that programming would be...

VASSAL is pretty close to what youre asking. However; I do like the idea of being able to post comments about maps; to help n00bs (like myself) know the basics about each map; i.e: What are its strengths/weaknesses; which type of character(s) benifit on it; etc.

I really like how Bloomilk is right now.. I do experience the same issues with the Squad Builder as other members have stated before. I would say the only thing would be maybe some sort of add-on to the Customs page so that you can add on a pic of a custom figure to complement its respective stats.

Alot of it is perfect, and I thank you for the extremly usefull tools. Just some things off the top of my head
-Add StarShip Battles to the list of characters
-Limit amount of custom characters that can be made per day (10 or so)
-Set symbols on each characters Bio
-Identified as a promo figure and/or with repaint picture
-More of the same stuff! Its all good!BlooMilk

Overall, site is great.

I second the comments on "search". The new functionality is great, but it makes the clicking harder and there's a bug that auto-selects the first option in a checkbox list.

Single click from the main page to the General forum where all the action is.

Repository / formal notation of what squads have won or placed in the regionals and GenCon.

No down time. The site is reasonably reliable, but it could be better.

Somehow to integrate with Vassal? Leaderboard/ladder for Vassal. Records of factions (which factions are winning most). I like to see stats. This is a lot more work than it would be worth, but as long as we're dreaming.

Update (restore) the external links list... Dantooine Base is a treasure trove of awesome resources that I just found out about. Why can't one site be the best for everything? Gamers for Vset development. BlooMilk for water-cooler talk and database. Dantooine Base for print-outs and resources. Are the rules/FAQ still housed at holocron? And somewhere the official WotC board is still alive and still horrible. I guess it's good to have it spread out, though, in case a site goes down or a key person to the community just up and vanishes. :-)

Yeah, overall pretty minor stuff.

Shinja, I think Your site is excellent the way it is. The Layout is easy to follow and topics easy to find. The Squad building tools are top notch. I like it!

BlooMilk is my ancestral SWM home - it was the first place I found when I discovered SWM's! It could never be any less than uber.

When I create squads, if I click on 'build from my collection', I can't add DotF characters (unless that's been changed since I last checked?) - that would be handy... as I theoretically own them all!

one thing I'd like to see updated is the character synergy for DotF, and future v-sets.

I'd like to see a Map section which functioned much like the character section: you could maintain your collection for each individual map (Haves, Wants, Trades, etc.) and you could also comment on and rate individual maps. Other than that, site's great! =)

The only thing I would change is I would add the ability to add multiple copies of a character to a squad. Its frustrating to want to add 10 mouse droids (just saying) to your squad, and having to add them one at a time.

Thanks,

I'd like to see a 'recent posts' for squads, figures, and customs. Similar to what we have for the forums. So whenever there's an update anywhere people immediately can see where the conversation is happening.

We do have that for squads and customs.

On a more fundamental level, poke around boardgamegeek.com for a while. It's not the most intuitive front page, but there is a lot of functionality there that I like that could be here as well:

* Each user could have a personal comment for each mini. You could go to a user's profile and see their comments on each individual mini. Or, you could go to a mini and read everyone's comments on that mini.

* You'd have the 'recent posts' area that I mentioned above.

* Built-in trade feedback instead of a manual GTL that has to be updated. Built-in marketplace.

* "GeekLists" are one of the most popular discussion formats over there. I'm not sure how well that would port over to minis, though, with only about 1000 figures to choose from versus a database of about 50,000 boardgames.

* Thumbs-up. You can give thumbs-up to a post or a thread. Avoids unnecessary "I agree" posts, lets users quickly see which posts have the best content, and it encourages good content. You have an ongoing count of thumbs-up gained, which somewhat measures how much content you've added to the site. (They experimented with a thumbs-down system, too, but that was abandoned because it just fueled flame wars.)

The page style, it's far too bright and gives me a headache. I have to have this page minimized most of the time. Also, I miss having an avatar and signature.

Nice! Thanks! I knew that was there for customs but didn't know it was there for squads. It would be nice if it was all on one page - recent activity. The last 10 comments in squads/forums/figures, in 3 separate windows. On the front page instead of down inside the menus.

Great site. Great layout and easy to read. I agree with adding maps, StarShip Battles to characters tab and update the links section to include more than just Dantooine site but maybe more sites like Maps of Mystery, Adventures Atlas D20 radio, SWminiverse and other sites that we forget about but are still around. But, otherwise this is a excellent site.
