Hey everyone

My brother and I finally got around to trying out an idea I had a while back, just haven't had the time to implement it.

Maybe this has been done before, so I won't take credit, but it was really fun.

Concept = Luke vs. Vader

How to make an epic showdown to equal the epicness of mass battles?

Answer = Play every form of Luke and every form of Vader!

I checked out the numbers and Vaders were trailing in points by 40 or so so I added Anakin Sith Apprentice to the mix and the points evened out with a difference of three I think.

We used Spynet and played using the usual rules except for uniques being unique! We did use commander effects so all the Lukes started with an extra force point and had renewal from GML, and most Vaders had advantageous attack and extra attack.

Lukes had a lot more activations but a lot less hit points per character (who cares about a little Luke Skywalker Rebel taking potshots at you anyway?) so we were unsure as to how things would turn out.

As it turned out, I closed a bit too quickly in my bloodthirstiness which had a bit of an effect on my gameplay. The battle featured a lot of cool moments and we will add pictures up later also. I had a rough moment when I jumped in Lord Vader only to have his LA cancelled and both attacks then missed (we weren't sure if he could still attack once but as he was screwed anyway my bro didn't care).

Luke Commando levitated Loda in to let off a force push 3, Vader Unleashed then let rip with a Lightsaber Throw 5 which did a bit of damage to some but not so much with others. Vader Scourge based GML so we could get some Djem So action on. GML survived, Scourge did not lol.

In the end the casualty rate of Lukes was about 50% with the Vaders losing. It was a mix of bad luck (or Luke!) and also slightly imbalanced squads. If we were to do it again we would drop Luke's Snowspeeder and a few other cheap Lukes along with Anakin Sith Apprentice and another Vader, to even out activations a little and take out some shooters from the Lukes. Vaders ate a lot of damage closing and had they killed all the melee Lukes they would have had trouble taking own the Snowspeeder, especially if Unleashed didn't make it.

Wannabe will probably have his own memories of this, so we will hear from him also. But no kidding, try it out guys, it was a lot of fun. But maybe not all the Lukes as I said, the out-activation and shooters really hurt Team Vader.

I basically did everything I could to avoid having to fight Vader Scourge until the end. He was possibly the third to last Vader left. I kept Luke RC and GMLS until the end each round so I could levitate in and kill who I wanted to kill. There were a couple of Djem So/Riposte battles, which was funny. I also Force Stunned Vader Scourge twice to keep him out of the action.

I ended up using Luke Tauntaun as a meat shield while I advanced. Oh, haunted Luke Legacy of the Light Side with Luke FS, to grant him Mettle. I figured with FR1 I can just reroll and effectively give him one attack at +4 the normal attack rating.

We don't have a Landspeeder so proxied in with a Swoopbike.

I think a ridiculous abundance of force points and two guys with force defence, a few with force alter and a force stun heavily swung the game in Luke's favour. That and my being able to outactivate with him.

It was really fun though. There were times I thought I was going to lose. Some of those Vaders with their 27 defence in cover. Lame.

That sounds like it was a lot of ridiculous fun. Glad to see Luke was the victor. Looking forward to photos and more details.

Yeah we have been thinking up more situations too, and less specific ones such as Wookiees vs Trandoshans and such.

I think Yoda wins that one easily. Plenty of ways to cancel all that lightning. Cool

Maybe...maybe not. ;) While Yoda of Dagobah is a nice force battery; Palpy Potty is a better one :D. GMY vs. Palpy SL would be cool match though.

Agreed, depends if Loda is allowed. Probably not. Glare

Anway, I'm sure it would get crazy. Love the concept.

So the Luke part would have Twin, FR1, Push 3 and Reflect for 34 points?
Could be good if he kept most of Loda's stat block. Laugh
