If my character has stealth and is the only legal target, and my character is further then 6 squares away, my character is not considered a target because I have stealth?

Now that the game is over, I would like to clarify that I've always played stealth as the holocron described it. Last nights situation was due to my friend all of a sudden forgeting that is how we always played it. Thank you again Mauler for giving me that link, I now have it bok marked.BlooMilk
