A guy in my playgroup is into Poggle bombs - he now owns 30 Geonosian Drones, and I'm sure he's going to play them all at some stage. What counter squads are available against them?
I can think of: - Arica - I'm sure other shooters are good too, but Blaster Barrage seems especially good. - Disruptive - which means playing Rebel or New Republic, unless you want to run Nym, who's maybe best in Imperial. - Rakghouls - new Celeste Morne would be quite helpful - maybe she's best in an Imperial build too?
Are there ways to take down 30 Poggle bombs if you're not playing Rebel, Imperial, or New Republic? Anyone expecting to see 30 Poggle bombs at GenCon?

Flight and Accurate with enough door control to get there... deep strike to kill Poggle.

Try snipers/accurate shooters, Flight possibly, or crowd controllers (ex: Flamethrower, Missiles, etc.). Force Leap works well too. Again, as FA is saying, deep striking and hitting Poggle right away would work best (try Swap as well. Dark Lady, Mas, Panaka, R2, and an Accurate shooter would do wonders).

Give an AoO to the bomb, and then shoot it. With low attacks, they aren't likely to hit much and without any defensive abilities (stealth, cloaked, etc) the step back and shoot works fine. Unless of course your squad is all melee:( Then you are in trouble.

With Darth Sidious and out-activation though, the other player does have the option of surrounding your shooter with drones after it has activated, then using Pawn Of The Dark Side to blow one up - setting off 3-4 should be enough to kill most shooters (as long as the initial one doesn't make its save of 16).

Also Bastilla, ABM works wonders, on that note Kyle Katarn and the disruptive angle turn the swarm of exploding geonosians into the normal sort of bugs.

I don't necessarily think Bastila helps that much either. Bastila + Galloping Attack/Strafe would be brilliant, but generally a Bastila squad is going to have less activations than a Drone squad. So all the Drone player has to do is wait until Bastila is done, then move some Drones in and use Sidious to set them off. Regular disruptive is a lot more useful than Bastila in this situation.
It's Sidious and the high activations that makes this powerful IMO - with Sidious you can set off the bombs when you want to. You can do the same with Shimrra, Nom Anor, and workers, but it costs more to set up, and the individual bombs cost more as well.
It's more of an extreme squad, with some good and bad matchups, than a balanced squad, but it's potentially a pain in my local meta.

What about the Ghhhk? With painful screech, it can detonate a lot of bombs. And it's cheap enough to be able to be brought in via lobot.

Lobot brings in Rakghoul. Have to be careful with it as you will only have one, and you will be outactivated. But if you bring enough rakghouls it could get ugly. Those drones will start running the other way.

I've even seen the Muun Taktics Broker used to set off the bombs to.

How about a Tarpals and some Gungan Artillerists, maybe even bring in some Zabrack Fringers with Lobot or Rodian Vigo, etc.

What, no one though of the Crumb-ster?
Just run Salacious up to one or two of them, and then use another character to kill the ones he's 'distracted"

While it doesn't make sense I thought that when melee reach was active everyone in range still counts as "adjacent" such that setting off a bomb will still mean you get burned. On the other hand if you have Rolling Cleave you could strike one down and roll away before it goes off.

Shoot them. Just bring in a human bg and crumb from lobot. Then position them so they can't run past him without getting an aoo.
