I don't play Sith, but I have a newer player who I've introduced to the game, and he's keen to play Sith. What are the kinds of builds we should be looking at once Renegades and Rogues is released?

I'm thinking that Darth Revan, Sith Lord, with his movement breaking and master tactician, is probably still the go-to piece for the faction. Then mixing and matching with pieces like Darth Bandon, Exar Kun dark force spirit, fringe pieces like Bossk TH and Jarael, and new pieces like Atton Jaq Rand, Darth Maul Infiltrator, Lord Kaan, and Darth Traya? Are all of the latter top shelf, or are some better than others?

Is that pretty much what the best Sith squads are going to look like after Renegades and Rogues are released? Or are there completely different builds that we should be looking at?

I know you're right, but that doesn't work for him, because he doesn't have them! He just bought his first pieces, mainly just fringe stuff like Ugnaughts, Rodian Brutes, Mouse Droids, and an R-7. I was trying to make some good squads out of v-set pieces, and fringe pieces that I can lend him. Revan, Sith Lord, seems like the best big beatstick anyway, because at least he has defense against shooters and won't turn into a pincushion.

Are you going to come down and play in a Lower Hutt or Hawera tournament sometime? They're pretty fun.

Well, as being a fellow sith lover theres two things. They are AWESOME. And there impossiable to get a hold of XD. I havent used all the new V-Set peices for sith but bandon and revan are pretty sick together. Throw in a sith inquisitor its scary. I also used naga sadow with that squad who is probably one of the more easy sith to get. Then use a few rodian bruts, ugs, and mice and you have a darn good squad for killing any jedi based squad, hands down.

Naga Sadow is a good idea, thank you. Especially with the new Exar Kun force spirit, and he's not too crazy expensive. We'd have to try and borrow one from someone short term though.

I was assuming that Revan, Sith Lord is still going to be the starting point for a Sith squad, but I was interested in what the good combos after that are. There seem to be a whole bunch of good Sith pieces in Renegades and Rogues - Atton Jaq Rand, Lord Kaan, and Traya all look pretty viable in the 30s range as far as I can tell - then Maul looks like a beast at 57 points as well.

Some of the possible combos I've been thinking about are:
Revan/Bandon/Kaan/Atton Rand/Exar Kun DFS
Revan/Maul/Atton Rand
Revan/Bandon/Atris/Echanis
Revan/Celeste Morne/Leviathan (probably a bit more of a fun team than the others...)

Are these workable - are there others?

Darth Zannah. She's one of the best pieces if not THE best in the set. And that is really saying something.

I believe there may be another R&R piece (besides Atton) that has Sith Affinity.

Saul Karath - affinity with Malak or Revan. (see RaR spoiler thread on Gamers around page 7)
