What was Czulkang Lah's record in Epic Duos? I'm sure I'm missing something, but I can't see how he loses in Epic Duos. He's kind of a sitting duck versus non-melee if there are a bunch of shooters to attack him, but there are only two opponents in Epic Duos and he and Tsavong can each close in on one pretty quickly with Charging Assault.
Once he's based, he has the most HP other than the Tarentatek, arguably the best armor (more consistent than the Orbalisk, though the Orbalisk will block slightly more on average), 120 potential one turn damage (average for the Epics), and a potential 60dmg (!) counterattack versus melee. If he ends his move within 6 of Tsavong, he can do 90 dmg on the move from 12 squares away.
Looking at them, it seems like the natural 'enemies' of Czulkang are Mara (no Counterattack), Terentatek and Vader (no Armor), and Bane (Djem So for 50 versus Czulkang's Counterattack for 30). Even so, it's hard to see Mara, Terentatek or Vader winning because they only negate one of Czulkang's huge advantages (armor, HP, and Counterattack). Bane has armor of his own and huge HP as well, so it looks pretty even there.
What am I missing?

Yeah it's expensive, but Luke and Obi Unleashed at the "meagre" cost of 9 force points can do 3 crits + 2 more attacks on him from range once obi snuffs it. Of course, he can just base luke, but surprise move can help a bit. That's 40+40+40+20+20, assuming all attacks hit. Luke needs to stock up a lot of force, but he can then get some crits on the Djem so once he is based, possibly. Probably isn't much better than the combos you mentioned. but it's all I can think of ATM.

Actually that damage was AFTER crab armor, assuming all saves were made. Luke has impulsive reprisal So 160, assuming he hits the last 2 (don't remember what he needs to hit in that situation...)

Don't forget Vader's Dark Armor. That can slow down some of Czulkang's damage output.

Czulkang was 7-1 in Epics, of the two people who I know ran it (I believe two others ran it, but I don't know about their records). I was the only one to lose a match with him, which was my own stupid mistake. Had I won a key initiative late in the match, I would've been able to take out Cad Bane (was playing Ray Becker who brought Cad and Terentatek), but I rolled a 1 on init. I don't remember the name or the record of the other guy who pulled Czulkang in my Epic Duos tournament, but the one who pulled him in the Sunday tournament won it at 4-0.
Round 1 I went against Mandalore the First and Jaina SotJ. I was able to close on Jaina and Mandalore pretty fast, and ended up killing Jaina and taking Mandalore down to 20 HP, losing Czulkang in the process. Warmaster was at full health, so he ran up on Mandalore with Momentum and dealt 20, Mandalore made Beskar'gam save and was down to 10. I win initiative and decide to triple rather than go for the kill on the Momentum shot because I want more chances to be able to kill him, figure I'll hit 2 or 3 of my shots and he'll fail one of his saves. He failed the second one, and it was game.
Round 2 I went up against epic Hoth and a Felcor. Was able to take out Hoth pretty quickly after he and the Felcor both run in and Charging Assault on my guys, and it was mop up on the Felcor.
Round 3 was against Terentatek/Felcor. The Terentatek not having Jedi Hunter really hurt his damage output, but he did manage to put some major damage on my guys. After I killed it, I ran Czulkang into the center of the map, hoping to win initiative and take out Cad Bane. We were on Rancor Pit so I could've run into a nook at the bottom of the map, forcing Cad to come closer to get LOS, but I didn't want to stall in a format that's supposed to take 10 minutes lol. I lost init by rolling a 1, and Cad puts 60 on Czulkang and runs away. I run both my guys closer to Cad, hoping to get within striking range. Guess what! I lost init again. Czulkang takes 60 and dies, and I'm left with a low-health Warmaster trying to take out Cad, and it wasn't working. Lost that match.
Round 4 was against epic Vader/Potty Palps. This match went pretty fast. I run my guys in on Round 2 and Czulkang drops 60 on Vader. Vader goes and uses Overwhelming Force 2 (*groan*) to drop 80 on Czulkang, then Warmaster runs up and Charging Assaults Vader for 30 and he fails his DA saves. Palps sits there and watches everyone beat up on each other, lol. I win initiative and take Vader out with Czulkang, then he concedes since Potty Palps can't damage my guys.
I went 3-1 and got 4th or so place out of 30 players, I believe. Vong rule!

The Lah Family Duo is a good Epic Squad, but it's very beatable. Luke/Obi or Luke/Han combo does it pretty easily. Vader/Apprentice (App uses double attack all game lol) does it pretty well. Mara/Luke is also tough for the Lahs. There is balance built in. Others can win too (Mace with a couple of crits, Bane/Zannah - which wasn't legal, but will be now and Bane/Talon). But seriously, if we are going to complain about a format that Vong can win in, I don't know what this community has come to :)

How did Cad put 60 dmg on Czulkang twice in a row? Two crits? Failing the crab armor 2 times out of 4 (or 4 times out of 8!) is crazy bad luck.

As soon as I saw this character's stats at Gencon on Thursday, I knew this would be the winner. If one of his abilities was toned down, the other characters could stand a chance, but with all of them as they are now, he's too much of a beast. But its good to see a "broken" dark-side character for a change!

It was probably 40 and 40 and I'm just misremembering, but suffice to say, I lost init twice in a row and Cad took me out since he was far enough away not to be close enough for me to kill him.

Just glad I didn't have to face any of them, lol. Had I had to face Vader/Apprentice rather than Vader/Palps it might've been a different story. Mace beating Czulkang depends on Czulkang making his Counterattack saves. If he does, Mace is toast. I saw full-health Mace take on full-health Czulkang and die before he could even get his triple off, and that was with two crits. Making all your Counterattack saves helps. I must say, I didn't crit a single time with Czulkang, which is kind of sad considering the 30 base damage, but I also never failed a Crab Armor save, so I guess the two balance each other out.

On the one hand, I can see that he has some tougher match-ups than I realized. In particular, I didn't realize Overwhelming Force skirted around Force Immunity. On the other hand, the only report I've heard of an actual loss relied on some really unlucky rolls and the Vong rushing out faster than they should have. Once I get my cards, I'm looking forward to trying these out. Also, I think it's clear that Czulkang would not be close to "broken" in a mass battles game. His clear achilles heal is shooters, and there would be plenty of them in a mass battles game.

3 of the 4 epic matches I played in came down to init. (I was Terentarak + Naga)
I did lose to Lah but lost both of the key inits. If I win the first I probably win, and if I win the second I might have been able to make a comeback (Warmaster vs a damaged Naga would have been a close finish).
I beat lord hoth (much more of a mass battle piece than a dueling piece) I beat MAra (won the key init and she rolled a couple of 1s to let me live) I beat Luke (won the key init. If he wins I think he can UTF me out)
In all reality most games of epics should come down to the key init as all these guys can do massive damage.
It also all depends on who the support pieces are. In testing that I did Cad Bane/Cade Skywalker/Boba BH were popular support choices which ate up Lah.
