Who do I contact if I want to help with character/stat design in upcoming v-sets?

Should I talk to Engineer or billiv or someone else?

Or is who does what already decided upon?

Les Eller is taking suggestions on the Star Wars Minis group page on Facebook, but if you're talking on a bigger scale than that, I don't remember. I'm sure talking to Bill could at least point you in the right direction.

In fact, let me know what you end up doing; I've been meaning to offer joining the grammar Nazi squad for the V-sets, but I never mustered up the courage to ask.

I don't know how the design team is selected, but I don't think you'd be able to jump right to the design team. Weeks spearheaded the playtesting on RaR. I think he's the person to contact for Vengeance as well. Active playtesting is probably the best way to get involved and possibly move up to the tier-1 playtest circle or the design team in a later round.

Having a large play group helps as well.

FlyingArrow is pretty much right on; for DotF I was a playtester and did some work in that capacity. I basically only saw the Mando pieces, but made sure to do plenty of work testing them and giving feedback. I did a good enough job and was involved in the process enough that for RaR I was one of two lead playtesters (Weeks being the other). Leading playtesting gave me a more direct venue to discuss things with the designers (I was actually able to post in the design forum now!). I continued to do my best in helping with that and advising the design team from a playtesting perspective. Then when they were looking for another designer for Vengeance, I was asked to help, and now I'm a full on designer! So if you want to actually design, that's the path I took, and seems to be the best way.

Other things that might help would be active in creating solid, clever custom stats for things and posting those, especially in the v-set ideas threads. The designers DO look at those, and if you regularly have good ideas it will probably be noticed. You should also be active in the community and demonstrate a strong understanding of the game. It would probably help if you were active both here and at swmgamers.com, mostly to show that you have the time and dedication to put towards helping the team (if you're just an occasional poster, you probably won't be considered for higher tier help, just because it's a pretty time consuming activity).
