  • Grenades 20 (Replaces attacks: range 6; 20 damage to target and to each character adjacent to that target; save 11)

Commander Effect

Non-unique Fringe allies within 6 squares gain Safety in Numbers and Flak Shield. At the end of this character's turn, 1 Fringe follower within 6 squares can use an ability that replaces attacks.

Xox Populi I don't understand.... I know we understand Race in Star Wars... But I am not sure there is a game definition for Race... I don't understand cannon fodder either... Are they immune to like MIssiles/grenades/ flamethrower?

The goal with Vox Populi was to reward a player for using a diversity of units and cluster them up. Cannon fodder is intended to function like damage reduction, but only against things like grenades and missiles. They would still take damage from Grenades 30, for instance. I am trying to address the issue that many of the WOTC fringe pieces have only 10-20 health, and are extremely vulnerable to AoE. This ability would force attackers to shoot them, instead of something like war throat removing them all at once. All of this is supporting the theme of a mob militia with fire-bombs.

I think I would change VP to just non-unique fringe ally with a different name and you would accomplish the same but easier for rules. Also Cannon fodder would also boost all of the powerful unique fringe uniques. You could just change it to: "Specialization: non-unique fringe followers gain Flak Shield, ignore this ability if any ally counts as having the same name as another ally."

The goal of the "Incompetent Leader" SA was to limit abilities like Cannon Fodder and the CE without having to build it into each one. If you think it is clearer to list it as a Specialization SA, I could definitely change it.

Well you certainly came up with a plethora of new SA's. I like the intent of Incompetent, but the name seems to imply something else, the CE is rather Tarpols/Overload-ish and its limited so thats nice.

Wow, when Surf said boost the lil fringers I think you took it a bit too literally. By that I mean this guy has nothing to really stand out on his own - he is solely there to boost the others (which makes incompetent fit very nicely I admit, but ultimately makes him feel very flat). Perhaps giving out Grenades/Burning attacks in the CE and giving those both to him as well (probably at the expense of Ragtag and vox populi) would help him feel more defined maybe?

Thanks for the feedback guys! Surf - I took another stab at the ability name. LB- I initially had Grenades and BA for him, but started running into the SA cap for the CCC. I agree with your assessment that he really brings nothing to the table himself. I'll retool and see what I can do.

Update: Removed Vox Populi and Cannon Fodder. I realized I should either buff stats, or focus on the save-based damage, so I went for the latter. I kept a similar effect to the previous abilities with Safety in Numbers and the CE. I compensated a bit by buffing the base stats.
