Koba was interested in this so I thought I'd whip one up for him.

I was actually on the fence for this about whether he should be 24-26, went with costing it at 25.

Wow! I like that! That's awesome!ThumpUp I was considering making one of these for Wookiee week of the CCC. Yours is much more sleek and to the point than mine would have been. I love the Srafe/Twin! I would definitely pay 25 for one of these! Would this be a large or a huge piece (I'm assuming it's not medium)?

And just curious, do you draw these pictures yourself?

Score!
Surf has done it again -
that's an awesome ornithopter,
and Chris found the autogyro picture,
so both kinds are now stat-carded for the die-hard wookie fans.

thanks Surf!
it's just the ticket! BigGrin

I found a new pic of Sugi, looked at my old card and frankly said to myself "You can do better than that so ....

Her Wook entry says she was a marksmen and tactician. the Loyal ability reflects her honorable desire to stick to her contracts/friends. I think this more closely resembles her.

Finally, when you're cleaning out your pic folders and you're bored, this is what you come up with ....

Hadn't realized my last "set" was 3 months ago. Wow.

Well, the summer didn’t end well; an Uncle and a Sister-in-Law passed away, my wife is a bit shaken and the house is upsidedown with rebuilding/remodeling. Long and short of it is, I’ve been away from the game. No time.
I’ve also been humbled by my brush with the V-Set group; I got a peek behind the curtain and its changed my perspective on the game. I’m not sure what I can do going forward; its made me look at things differently and I’m not wholly convinced it was for the better, but thats my issue.

Still, I have some ideas here and life goes on. Maybe I can get back to playing soon again. If you like something here (or hate it) comments are always welcome.
Cheers to the Community,

Surf

ARF Clone Lieutenant Besides informing the squad of line-of-sight to the enemy, I thought ARF should be able to Relay Orders; also gave them the little extra movement to reflect there repositioning as the enemy moves.

B2 Super Battle Droid on Orray What can I say, saw the pic and was amused.

IG-98 Enforcer Proto-Type There must have been droids everywhere after the Clone Wars and I wanted to reflect the idea as something that a competant droid mechanic might be able to make.

Je'daii Ranger The “Dawn of the Jedi“ comic seems to have run its course; this guys been sitting on the backburner long enough.

Kyuzo Sharpshooter Noy entirely happy with this; somethings missing (regarding speed/strenght of the species) but until it pops into my head, this’ll do.

Lothal Speeder Bike Always struck me as funny that speeder bike’s weren’t used for Recon ...

Norra Wexley, Imperial Hunter An interesting character; reminds me of Winter, but this girl really has a grudge against Imperials. I’ve noticed the V-Sets seem to be drifting towards more uniques and less fodder ... not sure what to say about that being a non-unique guy myself.

Resistance Ground Trooper My take on how the Rebel soldier may have evolved over time.

Solus Brokar, Death Watch Lieutenant Running out of non-unique Mando’s; may explain why the V-Setters are starting to go more Uniques too. Still, I think this guys an interesting addition to the Death Watch as it evolves into its own sub-faction.

Sorceror of Tund Thought it was funny they haven’t made an appearance yet. Been on the backburner for awhile. It was tough trying to whittle him down since they seem to have had a wide range of abilities/talents. Hope I got his essence down.

Thrall Herder Possibly one of my last Vong’s; tought of the idea of making him a cart to drag Chazrach around and said just stick to “controlling“ them.

Well, I may try to see if I can get me a game going in the next week or so. I haven’t thought about cards OR playing much lately. We’ll see. Comments would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Surf

what can I say;
this latest batch has a lot of goodies.

i'm liking the IG98 prototype, it's stunner function will come in handy.
25 point jedi hurty droid of doom? sure thing.
B2 on orray... awesome. flamethrower? that is a whole new level of nasty. BigGrin

the Vong piece is cool;
I didn't know Zonama Sekot came from the Dr Who universe,
because that looks like a Cyber-Mat... Laugh
should the Herder have 'rigid - cannot squeeze'? in their depictions,
they didn't seem able to fit through gaps hehehe
would it be on a 2x2 base, or 3x3?

thanks for sharing Surf -

Super cool set and or of your best yet!

The B2 flame mount is epic
Similarly I would love to play that fringe droid on a Grievous team.
Jedi Ranger is pretty much exactly what they should be so great job.

All of them are excellent!

Interestingly enough, if you search Google images with "Thrall Herder" that's the pic that comes up, with the title of Thrall Hereder too.

Why am I Not surprised you zeroed in on the two droids Koba? RollEyes

The sad thing is that the Seps Don't need help and yet some of the most interesting pieces are always droids of some type.

I'd have liked more Dawn of the Jedi comic but I guess That's run its course along with the rest of the EU.

I may stick my nose in playing again soon .....

I think sep droids need all the help they can get. Only BX droids are really good in current meta. Maybe octuptarra/Dwarf with Taan but the standard B2 or classic battle droid is at an all time low with all the shield/droid/commander effect hate going on. We really need a Grievous with prideful for battle droids

With your return I'm hoping to see more excellent customs here! So many options out there with new books, Rebels, and all of the classic EU which is still close to my heart. Keep them coming Surf

.... eight months, one Star Wars movie and a trailer later .... less then three weeks to go and I still have no idea what to do for a Regionals squad because I haven’t been keeping up on the latest stuuf and I playtested 5-6 of them ...

... and as the V-Setters veer towards more and more uniques ( and humble me by how they chew over every bit of minutia of each card whereas I just say “ Yeah, fine lets do that“ instead of worrying an idea to death) ... I’m left with about 350 odd cards in various states of completion and wondering if any of them are even worth doing since I’m out of date; my little “ under 25” point non-unique niche is dying out and being filled by V-Set Uniques ... but I digress and some people have actually said “ Just Shut Up and make some cards ... “ so ....

In no order other than Alpha ....

Academy Acolyte So where in the past year or so I started a Korriban Academy subset. I frankly can’t remember if/how many I’ve released ( ... and I know the Headmaster hasn’t been done yet to tie them all together) but anyway here’s a beginner down the Path to Darkness.

Bith Master Demolitionist This may have been the actual piece that made me think (oh go ahead, do it.) Love the pic, great idea and he has so many possibilities. I’m looking forward to trying the Rigged Proximity Traps .... could use feedback on that one ....

Clawdite Skip Tracer Another interesting idea, a “Skip Tracer.” I can see Hutts using this guy to point bounty hunters towards their prey.

Experienced Jedi Knight He was used in a contest about a year ago; This is what I picture an average Jedi Knight should like like. You know, the “fully trained” Jedi knight that Yoda said was the only one that could take on Vader or the Emperor. I always thought Every Jedi should be able to at least do this as a minimum base.

Imperial Messenger I honestly can’t remember where I got his from, but is was done when I unearthed it and it looked like an interesting idea ..... RollEyes

Mandalorian Aerial Trooper Well, the Rebels cartoon is full of flying Mando’s so why not?

OOM-10 Droid I’ve noticed the cartoons are always filled with snotty droids (most likely to give kids something to relate to?? Cool

Senate Investigator I love the Diplomatic and Senate SA’s. I can’t wait to try them Again, feedback here would especially be nice.

Yuuzhan Vong Warrior Seer Lah Vong certainly don’t need it, but I made this guy a year ago before they became the pains they are and I said “Hey, It’s Done” so here it is ....

Zygerrian Sub-Altern Just another Zyge to add to my sub-faction. but still useful.

God help me, I didn’t think I could get through this again. This will give me a better idea on whether I should say goodnight or get ready for the Regionals and maybe find someone to play test with again ...

Comments appreciated,

Peace,

Yes! The drought is over! Awesome to see your art back on Bloomilk. Thanks for taking the time to keep the epicness going (I still think you have the most views of any thread star wars miniature related, yes even more then the secret 61st Jabba thread). I also really appreciate that you make cheaper characters, primarily non-uniques and make them balanced yet interesting and fueling the fire for their development.
Now individual feedback:
The Acolyte is excellent! Hoping to see the headmaster and see how he/she ties them all together but this one is straight out of KOTOR Korriban Academy. DotDS is absolutely genius.

The Bith I would probably change up the wording of his Proximity traps to include a save, or else auto-60 is deadly on melee teams, and change the wording to make it more like an area effect mines. Switching out stepping with the more generic "movement" term. I do like the 10 damage new take on mines but definitely a save unless you make it just range 3.

The Skip is another great tech idea though unless I'm missing something sensors trumps scanner and makes it redundant? Unless you meant it to be hurting stealth/cloaked characters on your own team? Or specifically want to shut down Nom Bomb squads by taking away their stealth ability? You could swap scanner for sentry or bomb disposal unless your intent was the anti-Nom/hurting your own cloaked/stealth units.

Experienced Jedi Knight is just awesome, no critique here and he looks like a ton of fun. Great combination of abilities.

Imperial Messenger is incredible and flavorful, super cool idea and an auto-include into Imperial squads that is not broken (especially since most Palpatine's only grant characters to use his force points which this guy doesn't have, so granting a boost to guards/sentinels would be the only applicable one). I would love to see what kind of Palpatine you would create that would give this guy a better CE to keep passing out. As is the only thing I would consider adding cautiously is a few force points so characters can keep using palp's CE. Though that would be more for gameplay as opposed to theme.

Mandalorian Aerial Trooper is super awesome and fits within the faction very well, awesome stuff.

OOM-10 I think needs to have NotRRK toned down to within 6 squares as right now he's an auto-include to absolutely cripple Separatist teams. I would change it to within 6 and non-unique droids. But Faulty photoreceptors would still make this character potent as an anti-Sep piece and allow you to get into your target for distraction and NotRRK madness.

Senate Investigator is also really interesting. May be too strong against Fringe squads because right now if you brought a squad of them against and all fringe build they would automatically, albeit very slowly win. I would correct it by making it standard diplomat, or else if you want something similar say (non-adjacent Fringe characters) implying they are coming adjacent and checking her papers. Senate authority is super cool idea though!

The seer is super cool too! (Where the heck do you get your art from?) and only thing is the CE has both allies and followers in it so I would drop one of those. But otherwise awesome! And I want the Vong to get more love in this day and age of the "New-canon"

That Zygerrian is also sweet! Do you have a Miraj to go with him?

I would also love to see your take on Rogue One characters (and yes I know you don't like uniques as much but plenty of non-unique options as well as the awesome new crew. Deathtroopers, rebel insurgents, guardians of the whills, and that weird Mind-alien that Saw Gerra has) also would love to see your take on the rest of the Dawn of the Jedi arc.

And definitely keep at it/keep playing. You're legend Surf!

@GG

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Regarding art? Years of "surfing" the web my friend!

Regarding Rogue One (or Awakens for that matter.) they've been done. No reason for me to do it over (unless I'd already done one, which I sorta haven't .... sorta)

Bith - you're right about using the word move/movement- Changed. As for the "Auto 60" that's to discourage grunt melee pieces from coming in; he'll still die fairly easily from range.

Skip Tracer - the original pic (Since changed) with Scanner didn't have a closing parenthesis on it, which Should've told me its not done; since fixed. Idea being that longer range shooters can now take cloaked/stealth characters out.

OOM-10 - Well, droids are going to have a tough time? Yeah, tough! Make them include a non-droid; he's pretty vulnerable to a sentient who won't buy into his garbage line of bad logic.

Senate Investigator - Couple of things regarding Diplomatic Immunity; How many all Fringe are there? Most I've ever seen is "mostly" Fringe with an Independent Outfit piece. The rest of the "civilized" galaxy would recognize a Diplo Immunity, not a Vong. Regarding Authority, non-uniques might not want to bring attention to themselves from the Senate but a Unique might have less qualms about it.

Appreciate the "likes on other pieces (yeah I've got a Miraj somewhere on that backburner ...)

Cheers,

surf

an interesting batch,
with a very interesting exegetical preamble paragraph to boot BlooMilk

I'm liking the Imperial Messenger, and the Zygerrian Seperatist; they bring a lot of meta-combo options,
and are effectively defacto "draw fire" pieces.
not so thrilled by the OOMcapture droid who'll find their way into mirror-droid or paratus squads hehe.
internal strife'd cure that right up. BigGrin unique too, so I can't Palps-pawn that droid... (I couldnt anyway, pawn only works on organics IIRC).

the Experienced JK is something I'd be chuffed to have acquired in a WotC era end-of-run booster, possibly in Guardians.
it's old school, and at just the right pricepoint to be wotc-chindogu. nice.

thanks for another Surf booster, surf!
I am intrigued as to what other stat cards are on the surf customs bench at the moment

... well I finally have an answer to who the unwashed silent masses are that look at this thread. 500 hits since the photobucket pics disappeared and not a single "comment" about it. I'll assume they'll just peek in till I fix it. Makes me want to say the heck with the whole thing .... whatever.
