I'd say Naboo Troopers are a real squad. Seeing as they, you know, have hard data to back up that they are good. Hard data before v set 4 which is heavy in anti-naboo trooper pieces... I already gave you this match-up anyways, I honestly can't think of a way sidious can beat them. barring a miracle Mandalore and Morrigan hardly make the set heavy in Naboo hate. Decent amount of Stealth shooters maybe, but I don't see it as hate. I do have a piece that may end up being anti-Naboo, but it sure wasn't the intention.

So the Amanin Scout is the ONLY piece you're using to swap? Well hot dog, I can count to 18 and negate your options easily. Overriding a door or two would do the trick quite well. If you use your own door control to counter that I'll be able to shoot them just like I said. You can't have it both ways; either I will have the opportunity to attack some non-Sidious pieces, or you will have VERY limited options that I'll be able to work around without much trouble. Also, discounting Naboo squads completely is a bad idea. There are some things from set 4 that hurt them, but no new auto-losses, and we still don't know at all whether those things that hurt them will really effect the meta. Calling them a gimmick is also ridiculous considering they got 3rd place at GenCon.

I really hope I am wrong about these pieces and that it is just the style our play groups plays that makes them so good, just thought it was worth bringing up to everyones attention....

Which, imo, is discounting the LARGE amount of stealthed/cloaked shooters that already existed. Again, tough, and will see play. Warp the meta, not likely.

For the record, I have no interest whatsoever in playing this the night before Minis-Mania. If I do go up the night before (which might or might not happen), for one thing I would much rather spend my time playing different games since I'll probably be playing SWM all day on Saturday. For another, based on how this thread has gone, it just seems like it would be an unpleasant experience overall.

I have tried not to be rude or harsh about this... have i been?

Sithborg wrote:I suspect the old stand by of the NR, Mara Jade, played a role. Seriously, discounting her is just plain silly. She is still a very potent tool in the NR's arsenal, and nothing I've seen says she won't see play.
Also remember, if he is disrupted, he is not swapping out. In your example, he is controlling Gambit, okay. Run up Vindicated, keep him Disrupted. Then run up your two scouts next to him. Now what does Sidious do? Run away? Going to take at least one AoO from a Scout. Best case for him would be to Lightning a Scout and run away, if he could get outside the disruptive area. Which leaves him open to the other Scout following up with 80 more from Double Twin Opportunist. No evade. That puts him into some very dangerous territory, HP wise. Swarming him with strong shooters and Disrupting him puts him in a very tough spot, Master Tact support or not. Your swap and run is okay, if the Mandos only had one Scout. They won't. And what happens when he faces figs that he can't kill with Lightning. Only problem is I have yet to see a mando squad with the vindicated, 2 scouts, etc outact the sidious squad, in which case what we did was swap in move 8 lightning a scout, then win init move 8 lightining the other scout then let mando either base him for 30 damage, or shoot at him and let me try my evade. We tried spreading the scouts out, but then they weren't in the disruptive field or they werent in the training sergeants field making them easy kills altogether. As far as pieces that cant be killed with lightning, one they are most likely still activated, and if it is vong, I guess we just role parry and see where my dice land. I guess Palleon would really hurt Palps, and obviously there are squads that can beat him, but like i have said use this squad to beat my palps squad then take it to a tournament and see how you do.

We will see how things roll out. There are a lot of ways with dealing with either piece. We will see how the ways to deal with the figures is adapted.
The Mando BH is another interesting option. Can't be killed by Lightning, has access to JH. That is definately one twin AoO you don't want to deal with.

I hope maybe reading all this will at the very least bring these pieces to peoples attention and heck if it helps one person prepare for them, awesome.

I apologize in advance. those who know me understand what a %&(#@!! I can be. shmi15 wrote:Luke, dodonna, 3 felucians, 2 shamans, door control. And either more acts or thr great dr. E. You can surely design a squad specifically to beat it, but it will be hard as balls to beat I'm curious .... are we talking cue balls, or Nerf balls? Or something in between?

I don't think Thought Bomb can be cancelled. What is the reasoning? Force 5, replaces turn or when this character is defeated: 80 damage to all living characters within 6 squares; save 11 to reduce damage to 40. Remove this character from play. This Force power cannot be canceled. That's what I get for not reading the ENTIRE text. Phail! how often have we all done that. wise man say-when in doubt, read the card.
