They are both expensive beefy commanders with big movement breakers. I think it's kind of a one or the other deal imho. I was involved with the design on this one, and Sith Battle Manipulation was the brainchild of Jake K (sthlrd2). It is what really makes the fig. We did a playtest where Jake ran him with a couple GASG, Dessel and a Sith Probe Droid. He set it up really well, and was about to blaster barrage my ENTIRE SQUAD! It's a sick combo, but I am still not convinced it is the best. I really think that you have to have nasty guns to capitalize on it the best. Caedus sets it up, and the guns blow them away. It's really nice vs R2 astromech. You though you were towing? Now you're not. Oh in fact I'll just stick that little tin can out in the open all alone and smoke it. And with Makashi style mastery . . . GOWK? Ha! Soresu style this, B**CH!!!

ha! Ya with Aing-Ti Caedus can kill him in one round too. He will be a fun one. He's a little clunky to get into position though.

Does he single-handedly keep Simulation Deck off of the Restricted list? It has those 6 pits sitting just outside of gambit. I haven't had a chance to play him - curious how that map holds up to the Manipulation.

Why would you ever pick that side when playing against Caedus? You can also just always be 4 squares away from those pits. It's not like people aren't used to counting out squares anyway.

Simulation Deck is perfectly symmetric. The pits are in the same position on either side. You can always be 4 squares away, but then to stay that far away, your approaches are severely limited. You can't even hide behind the un-anchored 'floating' doors. When I played on the map, those doors were important for protection during advance. You could stay outside the defense towers, I suppose, but that would be especially hard with Melee. You could charge straight into gambit, though there aren't many safe squares outside the door. I don't know that Caedus would cause a problem on the map - just curious how the playtests have gone.

Jake K ran several Celeste Morne squads with overwhelming power options (Sith wranger and the Rancor Keeper) last year, and was waiting all year to scream that at someone. Unfortunately, I don't think he played against GOWK in competitive play with those squads all year. I sure heard it a lot in play testing.

I played this tonight. It did well against Mandos (though I lost.) I definitely don't think it is perfect, but I loved giving Caedus Crab Armor, then sacrificing Verger to give him 4 extra FP. I also made a fairly big play error while positioning Atton that might have turned the tide in my favor. I really really like the new Caedus, Sith Battle Manipulation is just insane in terms of sheer usefulness.

It was one of the things FlyingArrow and I discussed after the match and it is one of the things I was having a bit of trouble with. Caedus can do 80 (Double Cunning+Bandon) up to 160 with Flow Walking which is nice and he becomes a tank as Embrace of Pain starts to trigger. His problem is he chews through Force Points between Flow Walking and SBM. And Atton is always great especially with Sith Rage from Exar. But that is where it ends. Vergere and Bandon are clean up at best. The Recruits are nice to Self-Destruct 10 and moving them into position with SBM is amazing plus they help mitigate Caedus's inability to re-roll with the Force. Like I said I made the error with Atton, and if he survived I think the damage output would have been much better. I'd like to try it again to see for sure if I think it needed tweaking. (if none of this made sense I'm sorry I'm tired but I just wanted to get it down while it was fresh/sorta made sense to me.) edit I'll have to ask FlyingArrow exactly what he ran so I can figure out how much damage he put out because most of it was Caedus.

I made one, its rather fun
54 - caedus 52 - sith bastilla 36 -atton 27 - lobot 14 - exar 8 - sith recruit x2 6 - ugnaught x2 3 - mouse droid
I faced a rebel squad with celeste, new Han, chewie enraged wookie, and other rebel things, I brought in the tactics broker and 4 mouse droids, that paired with awesome initiative movement, SBM and sith sorcery with exar , I just activated him at the start of the round , and he really couldn't do much. Atton became a door opener because my ugnaughts died, so I would have had more damage, but I think it did really well. What do you think??
