sorry about that - I forgot my photobucket password last night.

Selkath - this is still very much a WIP. I've undercoated most of it, but I still intend to add more greenstuff work. A lot more. The only reason I add an undercoat to it is because it makes it easier to see greenstuff details I add on top of the other greenstuff.

Now, a Completed Rodian Gunslinger

Dang, they look nice! That Selkath would honestly be fine right now, no more greenstuff is needed! That saidm I can't wait to see the finished mini! Woot Extremely nice paintwork on the Rodian, you have a lot of Elite Rebel commandos lying around, don't you? BigGrin

Not anymore BigGrin

They are one of the very few finely sculpted minis in the WotC line which were cheap. That's why I like em Drool

I also like 'em for the Twin, Override, and easy acess to CA+20. BigGrin

OK, I finally got a chance to look through all of these and they are amazing. Now I need to mine your work for ideas:

1) The Codru-Ji - I've just created a Codru-Ji Jedi character for the RPG and now I 'need' a mini for him. Perfect timing! I've been looking at yours trying to figure out which way you attached the arms. Both sets look like they belong to the base mini, which is really impressive. Any tips on how to accomplish that would be appreciated.

2) Generic Sith/Dark Jedi - They all look great. I can see the twi'lek, and it's something I hadn't considered (although one went to my Atton Rand) but I'm stumped on the other two. I think I can see an Elite Sith Assassin torso in the left-most one, but I'm not sure on the rest of it. I have no idea where the middle one comes from but now I need to hunt the base piece(s) down.

And I completely get the need to keep improving on pieces. My Shimmra and Voxyn (and probably a few others) sat around half completed for a month or more as I tried to figure out what was missing and how to fix it. That Selkath looks like it will turn out at least as good as the others here.

On the codru-ji Jedi, for the bottom arms I found two arms from a plastic blister for Brittish infantry in my bitz box. I used a musicians left arm which was holding a drumstick, cut and filed where I would attach it to the mini. This caused him to hold the drumstick up at an angle, which is the angle he is holding his blue lightsaber. The top hands are just reposed imperial officer arms with greenstuffed gloves and a greenstuff lightsaber hilt. I used an Imperial Officers torso for the torso of the mini as well.

For the Generic Dark Jedi/Sith in the middle, I used a Tusken Raider's legs, a dark Helion swoop bike rider's torso (I had removed him from the bike for a later custom), and a pair of greenstuffed arms. His head is a Duros Scoundrel's.

You're spot on about the others - I used the Elite Sith Assassin's torso, and that figures head is also from the swoop bike rider's. I used an Old Republic Scout's right arm, greenstuffed a hand, then I greenstuffed a different hand for his right arm because I had already taken his right hand and lightsaber for a different custom (lol). His legs (and the Codru-Ji Jedi's) were from the Jedi Knight figure from the RotS set. When you're looking for a good torso for a codru-ji, look for one whose arms are fairly high up, as if the line for the shoulders continue into the arm. So, that is, his arms are not connected to the plastic on his torso. Also, the second arms, if they are sleeved, don't have to be attached directly under the first set of arms. You can place them slightly forward on the mini, and if he's wearing sleeves, it will just look like his reaching forward with his set of bottom arms.

I actually got the idea for the Twi'lek from an old thread over in the WotC forums. I think the first time it was done was by a user named El_Ahraiah or something like that.

I'll have another pic of the Selkath up in a bit - I've changed him up a bit pose-wise but he's still a Selkath BigGrin

Going to upload some more pics tomorrow. Been really busy trying to convert some statblocks to 4e style, but I finally finished the Selkath, I changed him up a bit from the WIP I showed to better fit an NPC I am going to use. He is a Selkath Master Privateer. I also finished two more Jedi, an armored Jedi and an albino Ithorian Jedi.

Selkath Master Privateer

Albino Ithorian Jedi Battlemaster

This is a good example of how creating a miniature made me create a very interesting NPC for the RPG. This is an Ithorian, He's going to be 11th level, and this is his RPG stat block
Yammon, Jedi Battlemaster CL 11
Medium Ithorian Noble 1/Jedi 7/Jedi Knight 3
Destiny 4; Force 11; Dark Side 6 (I figured he had to have some from using vornskr's ferocity before he could take Juyo)
Init +11; Senses Perception +9
Languages Basic, Ithorese

Defenses Ref 24 (flat-footed 23), Fort 23, Will 29; Block, Deflect
hp 80; Threshold 23

Speed 6 squares
Melee long-handled lightsaber +18 (2d10+7) or
Melee long-handled lightsaber +20 (2d10+12) with Powerful Charge or
Ranged by weapon +11
Base Attack +10; Grapple +11
Attack Options Bellow, Powerful Charge, Redirect Shot, Juyo, Improved Move Light Object
Force Powers Known (Use the Force +20) Force shield (2), mind trick, move object (3), negate energy (2), vornskr’s ferocity (5), rebuke (2)
Force Techniques Improved Move Light Object

Abilities (PB 28) Str 10 (+0), Dex 12 (+1), Con 10 (+0), Int 10 (+0), Wis 18 (+4), Cha 20 (+5)
Talents Noble Fencing Style, Block, Deflect, Greater Weapon Focus (lightsabers), Weapon Specialization, Redirect Shot, Juyo
Feats Force Sensitive, Force Training (3), Powerful Charge, Skill Focus (Use the Force), Weapon Focus (lightsabers), Weapon Proficiency (lightsabers, pistols, simple weapons)
Skills Deception +15, Gather Information +15, Initiative +11, Persuasion +15, Treat Injury +14, Use the Force +20
Possessions long-handled lightsaber (self-built), Jedi robes

Here's how I had envisioned his background as I was painting him; Yammon never really fit in with the rest of his Ithorian brothers. Yammon loved fencing and sword play, and had little regard for nature and science. His Albino skin didn't help, and it led to mixed views from his fellow Ithorians. For some, it alienated him even more, for others, it gave Yammon an exotic attractiveness. However, his love for fencing was not a love for violence, and Yammon never resorted to violence as a first choice. When the Jedi discovered his Force Sensitivity, they made sure to train him. For some in the Jedi Order, it is odd and humiliating to be bested in Lightsaber combat by an Ithorian.

Okay, because he has such a high Charisma, he's got a decent attack bonus with that lightsaber thanks to Noble Fencing Style. Couple with five instances of Vornskr's Ferocity, Juyo, and Powerful Charge, he is a fearsome opponent. While his Ref and Fort Defenses are a bit low for his level, with a UtF skill modifier of +20, not much can get past his Block/Deflect, and if it does, he has Force Shield and Negate Energy.

Anyway, back to miniatures

Whoa, in a nutshell
really whoa. Its top notch, high end minis here... the paintwork and detail is really appreciated!

The Ithorian Jedi, and generic jedi are really standouts here, they seem to be interesting characters that could recur in RPG games.
The lack of droids is a little disappointment... BigGrin

Would you mind sharing the recipe for the Generic jedi, as its a neat one I'd like to try at home sometime. Im sure the local RPG group would get a kick out of me putting that on the table: "You're walking down this alley in Rise of the Empire Tattooine, and a pissed off jedi shows up."
Superman and doctor who minis have made crossover appearances in game; I have this thing as a GM that when I receive a certain number of ridiculous private notes, and its clear the game has gone off the rails entirely, I figure why not and have a random plot crossover (usually when a player says they're bored and or leaving, or its nearly the end of a session).

The Generic Jedi is a Jedi Consular (From CotF) whose lightsaber, cloak tail, and head was cut and off, for a different custom years ago. I found him in the spare parts. Basically, I just put a pall of greenstuff on his shoulders, then flattened out a piece of greenstuff in a circle and covered the ball with it, flattening it around and smoothing out where the figure had it's hood down, so it looked like it was once piece. I didn't feel like sculpting an entire new cloak, and I hadn't mixed very mix greenstuff, so I just filled in with greenstuff where I cut off his long cloak and filed it until it was smooth, making a short cloak. Then attached a spare lightsaber I had laying around.

For the paintwork, I used Vallejo paints (leather brown and Terra Earth) with GW Devlun mud wash over them. Then, I go back tot he Vallejo paints and drybrush after the wash dries. After that, I apply a layer of highlights using the same browns, but it works because the drybrush isn't as bright as a straight up highlight is. I left the figures boots completely alone, other than a light wash of Devlun mud (about 50/50 Devlun mud and water)

I avoid cross overs in my RPG, mostly because when you start to have TimeLords and the Star Trek Enterprise in a game with Jedi Knights, things are waaaaay to crazy to homebrew rules for.

I have used the Alien Queen from Alien and Aliens, though. It makes a good boss for a short, sweet, and fun mini-adventure (no communications from an allied base, go check out what happened...Ok we're here, where is everyone? Hello! Can any one hear me? - Oh, sh**...)

Oh, and back when I was buying minis packs, I would trade all of my droids for stormies. Hence the lack of them in my work =p

Thank you for the kind words!!

It's not so much that I have a thing for purple lightsabers, but I've been trying out a new technique for changing a lightsaber's color. Basically, if you put several layers of a semi-clear ink over a lightsaber blade, it changes color nicely and is still translucent. So far the only inks I have like that are red, and purple. Red just didn't seem appropriate :p

I picked up a yellow ink of the same nature. Should I change the Ithorian's lightsaber blade to yellow?

If you want, it could look cool with the white skin.
