If you want to quit the game because of your dislike of the vsets, You can. There have been a few gaffes, However, You have to understand that while WOTC was releasing sets, some were echoing the same arguments over some of the figures being released. I remember specifically how some in our group felt when Mas Amedda was released. How about the Lancers? I wont even get into Dodonna.

The thing is , at that point, you couldn't say, " Well, lets just leave MAs out.".... "Or LAncers are not allowed".
You have that option with the V sets.

I think the V-Setters have done a nice job in keeping the game fresh. I wish I had more time to play Minis WITH the vest but because of being extremely busy and also less players playing it does't happen as much.

Keep up the good work guys! were still talking about this game after close to ten years!BlooMilk

To let everyone know, the designers are listening.
V-set 7 is in the works it will be the last 60 piece set. It will also have a ten piece subset as well as the 2 bounty hunter challenge pieces that were created for this year's Gencon.

V-set 8 scheduled to come out GenCon 2014 will be the first non-60-piece set. It will have 45 pieces and a 9 piece subset.

The designers are also learning that we can only get so much stuff on a card, so some SAs that we want that are wordy will be cut as needed to make sure the card is legible. I know that this wasn't mentioned in this thread, but has been mentioned in others.

I hope this helps with some concerns.

To OP:

What is causing you to quit? The lack of players, or the V-Set? Are you saying you are the last *vanilla* player in WA, or SWM player in general?

My group has had problems with V-Set too. After quite a lengthy debate on the forums awhile back, we decided to make our own set that we're still working on. In the meantime, we have been playtesting the V-Set and altering pieces we feel are overpowered. To us, that really fixed the game.

Part of the problem, we noticed, is that when we play vanilla, we typically see 1-2 cheesy teams in a 4 player game. That doesn't make the game fun for the other two players, who essentially get steamrolled. I never quite understood the draw of V-Set because I had always been looking at it from a casual player's perspective. There are some CHEESY V-Set pieces, afterall. But, along those same lines, there really are some pretty broken vanilla teams (We played one game where we had Twi'Lek Vigo's shooting at a 17 attack for 40! FOUR shots WITH greater mobile!!)

In my view, what the V-Set seems to have done is balanced out the game, but not in such a way that it buffed up bad pieces and toned down good ones, which is what we were hoping the V-Set would do back in the first set. The V-Set just made everything super good, and essentially cranked up the power levels on lots of pieces.

If you don't like the V-Set, I can certainly sympathize with you. I've come to respect the V-Set more as of late, but I think with enough support and compromise, it can be fixed. Things like reducing the number of abilities pieces have, including more tactical commander stacking, and point-setting helped our group out a lot. And I think that if the V-Set designers gave it a shot, they could make the V-Set more rewarding for some of the more casual players too, by doing the same thing.

TL;DR: If you don't like the V-Set, customize it so that you do, or do what we did, and put it on hiatus for awhile until you're itching for something new.

Reignir, please don't try and make this thread into another Vset power level debate.

Corranhorn, I'm not. I'm trying to help the OP find ways to get around his problem. In fact, I supported the V-Set in my post. Chill buddy, I'm on your side on this one.

Might I point out that I think we are now just arguing with ourselves? I think Monsterkhan007 has already left, so unless someone can show him this post, and how hard we are trying to convince him to stay, then I don't know what to do.

Your post was layered with bait on the topic. I'm not saying you're doing it on purpose, but you should become aware. Regardless, let's change the subject. Hopefully anyone caught by it will notice this post before responding and stop.
