I'd wager the opposite is true.

Actually, I wouldn't mind at all. I know that I try to get my custom SAs and FPs as sensible possible, so any feedback on how I can improve them would end up being greatly appreciated.

Yeah, if the Sarlacc thread was any indication, yeah, people don't necessarily like being told X can't happen.

This happened to me a couple times. I just like to know why. It helps me understand the game better.

Speaking of the sarlacc idea, is there any chance we can do another community designed piece? That was a great idea to let the community get involved with the sets. I personally think we should have more ideas like that. I'm sure this will go over looked here but I think we should have a bit more involvement. The Gencon winner completely designing a piece is cool, but maybe do at least on community designed piece per set. And the another community voted piece. Where we just choose the name and the designers do the rest. Maybe we choose the next mini set? Anything like that. I know the designers are the designers and this that and the other thing, but at this point in the life of the game are there really more than 100 or so players that regularly visit bloomilk and gamers? Command of the galaxy was a great set and I have not seen any huge complaints after browsing and commenting across the figures from the set for the past few days but I think at this point we should concentrate on what the community wants. Because at this point is this is the community. Any thoughts?

Honestly, we kind of already have that - the voting, I mean. Post your requests to the request thread. The number of voters are few enough that anything that gets at least a half dozen requests is likely to be made. If you're really concerned about it... do the work for the Vset team and go through the list and tabulate how many votes each character has received. If they see raw numbers, they're even more likely to fit in the most popularly requested characters.

This is just my thoughts on the matter, so don't take it as a definitive no.

With the switch to smaller sets, I don't think player created pieces are a good idea. Current idea is to cut the sets down to 45/9. It really makes each and every piece a vital piece. I have done a sample list in the new format for the others who are designing with me on V8. Let's just say trying to please 4 designers while trying to integrate everyone's ideas into such a small set is difficult. Trying to balance everyone's wants and desires with 18 less pieces has a dramatic effect. In V5, even if the set list was mainly decided when I came on, I was still able to do a LOT of what I wanted, with the pieces presented. Not so much with these smaller sets. Adding more stuff to work around is going to not be fun.

That's not to say that I think it is a bad idea. Yes, it will be tough for designers to learn how to be brutal in cutting down what they want to do in a set. But I think the net gain will be better for the game. We will have tighter themed sets, with a greater focus on each and every piece, from designers to playtesters. I just don't see how the game will not benefit.

That said, I have said that I am favor of the community being much more active in a Epic 3 set. I think the format is ripe for the community to have more freedom to be creative.

And trust me, we do look at who you want.

Could you not just hold the ones that don't make the set over to the next set?

Personally I not keen on a new epic set if its only going to be in PDFs, however if you do another please try to even the epics out across the factions, so each faction has the same amount of characters.

The epic sets are totally a financial issue. The money is just not there to print them. Getting 12 epic cards printed costs the same as a 72 card set (and we only 60% as many sets).

So either PDFs or I can see if we can dramatically reduce the card quality. Folks seem to like epic sets, but don't like paying for the printing.

"Broken links" are something we have to avoid with the smaller sets. We can't guarantee that the next design team will be willing to include the broken link in the next set. And the temptation will be there, because of the premium each piece will have.

From personal experience I can say emphatically that getting sets printed yourself is both easy and very affordable. The biggest issue by a long shot is not having access to high res files. I came in after DotF was already out, got quite a few individual cards from the local league I play at but got a set printed because I was missing a lot of them. I didn't pay attention to the resolution beforehand and was dissapointed when I picked them up from a local print shop when I found my cards were fuzzy.

You also don't get the set logo on the back (unless you want to pay extra) but I could care less about that. Honestly if support fof funding new sets drops to a certain point I think you have to consider just releasing the files and let people print them on their own and Epic 3 sounds like a great place to try it out. You have to be able to let people have access to high res files though or it just won't work.

Credit where credit is due. Fine. In all the designing I have looked at customs on one character. Boba Fett of set 4. So, if you had something posted about Fett two years or so ago feel good about yourself. Feel free to tweet it, facebook it, or pin it. Whatever make you feel good.
